According to the Texas baseball program, RHP Sam Cozart recently underwent "minor foot surgery as a preventative measure to address a previous injury." While Cozart is expected to be limited during offseason workouts, he's on track to be ready to go for the start of the 2027 season. The expectation is that the NCBWA Stopper of the Year will move into the weekend starting rotation, forming a potentially dominant 1-2 pitch with All-American Dylan Volantis. As a freshman, Cozart led Division I among pitchers who threw at least 50 innings in WHIP (0.73) and batting average against (.140). He was second in the nation with a 1.72 ERA, trailing only UC Santa Barbara's Jackson Flora, who was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. Cozart, who went 6-0 on the mound, recorded nine saves, which tied him for the most among freshmen in Division I.

Completely agree. That said, I've been burned so many times betting the over on season passing yard totals. The only one I seem to have gotten right was taking Jackson Arnold's under on passing yards last year.

That's nonsense when you say, "it's not fair." These are student athletes. They are not getting a salary for a job. No one is arguing they should not be able to profit off their popularity, hence NIL legislation, but that is a long way from pay to play. Again, if this is going to be nothing but a G-League for the NFL where players are paid for a job, then the schools need to divest of this nonsense and let the NFL find investors for each team, a city to locate them in, and finally a NFL club to link them to. If on the other hand they want to preserve college football and the collegiate athlete, then they need legislation that allows them to do that.

The NCAA has always been broken. What you believe in in how these kids are student athletes doesn't exist anymore. Most of these "athletes" probably don't even go to class anymore. Gerry has hinted at this on numerous occasions. The genie is out of the bottle and it ain't going back in. Forget what college sports used to be. This is a new era, embrace it or move onto something else.

Not sure how many of y’all dabble in the PrizePicks world, but they just dropped their college football season total plays. For Texas, the lines currently are: • Arch Manning – 25.5 passing TDs • Arch Manning – 3,124.5 passing yards • Cam Coleman – 749.5 receiving yards • Ryan Wingo – 724.5 receiving yards
