The Head Coach signs off on every take.

Sark said he earned this job because he was good at calling plays. But is he, truly? He is great at play-design and he has shown that his opening script is always on-point. They marched down the field 75 yards and I found myself ecstatic thinking that he finally unlocked it. But then when a defense makes adjustments he bangs his head on the wall for 3 of 4 quarters. He runs when he should throw and vice versa. Which has trickled down to Arch. His most successful offensive roles have been under Pete freakin’ Carroll and Nick freakin’ Saban. Two of the GOATS. He was mid at USC as HC and mid at UW as HC. At this point you remove the decorative ‘Offensive Coordinator’ title from Flood and tell him his sole focus is OL. Sark hands the sheet to Milwee in the booth to call the plays (so he can be the next scapegoat). Because if he doesn’t do something different, his photo should be placed in the Webster’s Dictionary as a prime example of “Insanity.”

I agree completely @Marcus Myers. However, it was mentioned my another poster on a different BBS, Sark's identity as a HC is being an play caller. It's what he knows and I dare say finds validation in. That's why he ostensibly hired Muschamp to be on complete charge of defense. Plus, what if he does hire a play calling OC and the offense takes off? Will his ego be able to handle it? Additionally, he's so loyal to underperforming assistants (stares in the general direction of Flood and Banks) they would probably undermine the new OC. I'm just not sure anything of significance changes without Sark going.

@Marcus Myers my question to you is, why has Texas regressed, specifically Arch, in the same playcalling system from the year prior? Something has to be going on behind closed doors that we don’t know about, because it’s almost impressive to have regressed as an offense with all the talent you have. Just doesn’t make any sense to me. I guess there’s just no air in the atmosphere offensively.

Will say this. This board has the best in the business at this. They do not sugar coat. They tell you what they see. They do spend time on the road scouting . Not sure what is wrong with this team . Not sure the coaches know.
-
No doubt. Just compare the UTSA tape from both years.
-
Against MSU he was 26-31 for 325 yards and 2 TDs. I don't think we can do that against air now.
-
It's most definitely worse than it was at the end of the 2025 season. About the same as it was with Stroh playing, which is simply amazing.
-
Real scouting tells you what a player can AND can’t do. When every commitment gets a “BOOM!” and glowing reviews, but weaknesses are rarely discussed, that’s not objective scouting. That’s marketing.
-
Problem still remains that Sark has no answer for when defenses send 6 and 7 guys after Arch. Every DC has looked like a genius against Texas and then go back to reality when they play other teams. I am assuming Sark has removed all bootlegs, TE slants and draw plays from his playbook because these aggressive defenses have not been punished for their aggressiveness. 100% on Sark
-
@Jeff Howe no argument.... it's worse, worse, worse....

There is just a multitude of problems that has been have been consistent over the past 6 years and it still hasn’t been addressed. Sark is great at the opening scripts but the in between is terrible because when opposing coaches adjust it’s like he’s lost all his brain cells Arch this season isn’t helping either he’s completely lost his confidence and it’s the same response post game every week “i didn’t play well enough gotta play better” We honestly should have saw this coming when the reports out of Fall camp was Arch could’ve been sharper in the scrimmages etc. Also what has happened to Siani and baker they had glowing reviews during camp and they get whipped almost every play

Outside of guys inherited from the previous regime (Hayden Conner and Jake Majors turned out to be NFL players) and the 2022 recruiting class (DJ Campbell was drafted, albeit later than expected), I’ve been disappointed. Interior offensive line play should be markedly better than it was last season. You can argue that it’s worse.
-
I agree. Sark needs to step down as OC (probably not gonna happen this season, I would become even a bigger fan if does do that). I posted Tillman’s comments on Arch because there is just too much vitriol aimed at him (here and nationally) just because he has not lived up to unrealistic expectations placed upon him by others. I have never heard Arch make any comments about him being the best ever, being as good as his uncles, or that he deserves to be winning national accolades. That is all on the media and the fans.

Respectfully disagree with him with respect to Arch. Sark's playcalls leave much to be desired for long periods of the game, it's been evident with multiple QBs. That speaks to poor QB evaluation/development and/or poor execution. Arch isn't seeing the field and making problems for himself with his pocket awareness though. He's had QB coaching since he was a kid, and he showed better pocket movement last year. Plenty of blame to go around. Sark, Flood, Arch all contributing to this. Only change we can credibly make in-season is by seeing what we have in KJ Lacey and hoping he can execute the plays Sark wants to run for him. Hopefully he shows more pocket awareness/movement. Not sure if it's Arch's foot injury but that is one of the more glaring regressions in his game year over year.

When they talk about the player like they have spent a lot of time doing personal scouting- which they sometimes say they have- they should be more realistic about a player’s potential. If they truly believe every player they scout is going to be a difference maker, then they are truly just sunshine pumping. I’ve rarely heard them say someone that commits is overrated.

Our “talented roster.”

This OL can’t be fixed this year but we do have bodies to try at different positions LT Goosby LG Sikorski C Christian or Hutson LG Hutson or Seymore or Coleman RT Siani Baker is the most disappointing one for me this year. Just looks clueless out there at times. We knew Robertsons strength was an issue and didn’t address it in the offseason -

You know even in our wins we haven’t played well on offense. In spurts yea, but not enough to create an identity. A quarter here and a quarter there but overall it’s regressing bad. I doubt anything can be done about it this year. We aren’t magically going to figure it out in a week of practice. We’re going to lose several more games so everyone needs to prepare for it. CDC is going to have a choice to make here shortly. Let Sark hire an offensive coordinator or cut ties and start over

Can’t fault the OTF staff. They do a tremendous job covering this team and the recruits across this country. Kudos to them for having to provide wall to wall coverage of this shi+-show. Recruiting can be a real crap-shoot. Plenty of 3 stars in the HoF and plenty of 5 stars are now used-car salesmen. You can bring in the most talent in the country, but there has to be the development step. And IOL has been a serious issue for Flood. Breece Hall’s statement still rings true all these years later: “It’s five-star culture vs. five-star players.”
