camridleyfan Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Kiffin allegedly has told assistants that if they are not on the plane tomorrow they don't have jobs at LSU after the season. Apparently to put Keith Carter the ADs feet to the fire by threatening to tank their playoffs assistant pool if he doesn't get his way. He wants to have his cake and eat it too by taking the LSU job but coaching through the playoffs. Lines up with the college gameday talking points from Sexton clients herbstreit and saban. Unreal...... Quote
AusMOJO Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I was just reading about t hat situation, damn crazy. The off-season is going to be insane with the portal opening up and guys getting 30 day windows when their coaches leave, etc. Most of the hires aren't like years past with big names floating around everywhere. Kiffin to LSU will be dangerous but I have a feeling he should've stayed at Ole Miss, he's proven time and time again that he can't handle big expectations. Haven't heard about Penn State in ages, what are they even doing? Lol. Looks like Sumarall is now the Florida focus, not sure the fanbase is going to be happy with another G5 HC. Tulane made him an offer to stay, but I'd think he'd take the Florida job. Arky is after the Bama DC and Memphis HC. Golesh was their original target but it looks like Auburn is going to snag him. Going to be so much fun in the off-season. Quote
Glass Joe Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago This should tell you where Kiffin‘s priorities are right now, as he’s more worried about assembling his LSU staff and locking down the current LSU recruiting class by NAD1 (Wednesday, Dec 3) than he is about prepping Ole Miss for their playoff game in two weeks. And Kiffin’s threat to his assistant coaches is an empty one. They are under contract to Ole Miss (not to Lane Kiffin). if Kiffin threatens to not hire his current assistants at LSU if “they’re not on the plane today”, what’s he going to do? Hire a whole new staff of assistants instead? How exactly does that help Kiffin & LSU for next season? Kiffin wants to introduce his entire staff at LSU this afternoon for recruiting purposes…so that recruits who’ll be signing on NSD1 this Wednesday will at least know who their position coach will be at LSU. Ole Miss is right to tell Kiffin to pound sand and hold these assistant coaches through the end of their contracts, which likely coincides with the end of Ole Miss’ playoff run (whenever that may be). And it’s very likely these assistants’ contracts have clauses that forbid them from recruiting for another school while employed by Ole Miss (so there’s a legal risk for these assistants). 2 Quote
Roy Hinojosa Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) If Kiffin leaves and guts the coaching staff at Ole Miss, then Ole Miss should miss the playoffs. The precedent has been set with Florida State. I understand it was different because their quarterback got hurt, but losing half or more of your staff would be detrimental. It’s worse than QB1 getting hurt IMO. This affects every single player. It’s even worse that it’s happening to those kids in the middle of a historically good season for them! If I’m a recruit I’m looking at this and staying as far away from Lame Kiffin as I can. 1 Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago If the entire coaching staff is gutted why should they make the playoffs?? 1 Quote

Still a 15 day window starting 5 days after a new coach is hired. Sounds like Ole Miss already started talking to other coaches so they probably have 1 or 2 candidates they like. Quote
Stuey22 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If he really leaves and takes the coaching staff with him before their playoff run, how many of those players will tell him and those coaches to shove it up their #$@ when the window opens? Standard Kiffin family trait…it’s all about the ME 1 Quote

Itsamystery Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago A different perspective. Can you imagine a top salesman declaring he is going to work for a competitor and take the top salespeople and support staff with him so that he can start building a sales pipeline? All while wanting to stay short term at his old employer so he can grab some accolades and more money? Never would happen. And LSU looks absolutely without any morals in allowing this to happen. My hope is this bites them in the Karma buttocks really hard. 1 Quote
Joe Zura Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I wonder if the committee is going to do to ole miss what they did to FSU a few years ago 2 Quote

TV money is a big deal. Now they have an excuse to bring in Texas eyeballs. Do I think they'll drop Ole Miss? No. We unfortunately lose out to the ridiculous G5 auto bid between 2 teams with HCs leaving. BYU or Miami getting in over Texas is a travesty. 3 Quote
justwinbaby Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago LSU and Lane deserve each other. It’s interesting watching this all happen. 2 Quote
SB21 Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago Wild to see a coach lead his current team to the best season they’ve had in a long time while being a potential “championship caliber” team with a real shot to win it depending on how the bracket falls for them….. only for the coach to take another job and just throw all that those kids work for down the drain.
