Longhornlove Posted Friday at 05:48 PM Posted Friday at 05:48 PM What women's sports will be added? Not just Texas. This will require cutting mens sports or adding women's. Quote

Three departures already are down to 82, there will obviously be plenty more. But you could realistically be looking at 50 new additions to the Longhorn roster in 2026. Also might be able to hang on to more of those kids thinking about leaving as well 1 Quote
Lock n Horns Posted Friday at 06:21 PM Posted Friday at 06:21 PM If there is no increase to the total pool of money from which we can pay the extra players I agree the intramural fields is where we should recruit! Quote
Oldest Horn Posted Friday at 08:21 PM Posted Friday at 08:21 PM This is going to be great news for program players and special teamers. This is akin to opening up 20 otherwise empty seats on an airplane. Quote

They probably take a few above the 85 limit that they want to hang onto or want to bring in, or have to, as you well noted, increase the number of women’s sports on campus. I mean. How many soccer teams can you field? Full contact Quidditch? Quote
Steamboat Willie Posted Friday at 08:29 PM Posted Friday at 08:29 PM Everyone’s acting like the new 105-scholarship rule means Texas can suddenly bankroll a small army. Reality check: you can roster 105 guys, but you can’t pay 105 guys. Revenue sharing = a soft salary cap. NIL = still the hunger games. So what actually happens? Texas funds the top half of the roster, stashes projects in the bottom half, and the portal becomes a revolving door for anyone who realizes they’re in the “thanks for being here” tier. The new rule doesn’t create 20 more paid contributors — it just gives Texas 20 more lottery tickets. And Texas loves lottery tickets. Hook ’em. 2 Quote
Oldest Horn Posted Friday at 09:57 PM Posted Friday at 09:57 PM Adding women’s sports will be no problem at Texas. They currently have 12. Stanford has 19 women’s varsity sports. 2 Quote

Rick Posted Saturday at 02:12 AM Posted Saturday at 02:12 AM The 105 limit is roster spots as well as scholarships. Walk-ons count against the 105 the same as scholarship players. 1 Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Why get more dudes if all they do is sit on the bench? Quote
JurassicSark Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Quote Why get more dudes if all they do is sit on the bench? Because all it takes is for one of those bench guys to develop into a really good player and it's worth it. Plenty of examples of that happening across CFB. Quote
