Rocky P Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago With Elijah Robinson going to LSU. Should Texas be concerned with Watson leaving to reunite with him? Quote
Bobby Burton Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Gonna be lots of things like this to be aware of. 1 Quote

LonghornLegends Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago To be completely honest, I’m to the point where if you don’t want to be at Texas leave. They’re pretty much just mercenaries anyway, get 10$ more and they’ll bounce lol. 4 Quote

CHorn427 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I saw Maraad Watson get pushed like a blocking sled by double teams multiple times this season. Literally sliding on the ground backward. 4 solo tackles. If LSU wants him badly enough to outbid what should be a second tier NIL package (non elite player) from Texas, they can have him. I think we should be able to find an adequate replacement. LSU seems like they will have multiple freshman DTs that should be able to produce more, so I doubt they’d go gung-ho for Watson 1 Quote

Watson was a HUGE step down from Sweat-Murphy-Collins-Broughton 1 2 Quote
AusMOJO Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I like Watson, think he has good upside, but I wouldn't overpay for him. We need some bigger bodies in the middle that can make plays. Feel like we were pushed around a lot in the middle this year. Hoping Sharma can take a big step forward, because he's got the size/talent you want in the middle. Would also expect J.Terry to take up a ton of snaps, January to keep improving and hoping Kanu comes back. Not sure what Johnson is going to do, don't recall seeing him much. Quote

Your memories of those guys are in their 4th and 5th years. DTs get better with time. We’ll be better off if he has time to mature here. 11 1 Quote

He surprisingly cleaned that up by his final year and held the point of attack well. I’m sure Watson will too. 1 Quote

Popular Post Bobby Burton Posted 14 hours ago Popular Post Posted 14 hours ago FWIW - over the next couple of months, I think it hurts Texas for people to be speaking negatively about current players on the roster. Let the coaching staff decide who they want to keep and who they don’t. Some opinions I’ve read in this thread are woefully uninformed and can only be used as fodder for opponents. That’s reality. I don’t mind due consideration and discussion. I do mind over the top stuff that is just blatantly untrue or entirely misinformed. 39 12 Quote

If you remove all that, what do we have left? I will never quite understand the mentality of fans wanting the program to push people out the door assuming they go about their business the right way. With NIL and the portal, things have shifted, but I’m not quite to that point. Obviously we can improve, but this team didn’t lose games because we were physically incapable. We simply did not make enough plays at the right time. We were far from healthy too and the schedule was the most difficult to navigate. I am woefully uninformed on NIL allocations and with that I cannot begin to discuss the proper moves regarding the roster. So I take the guys for who they are and their upside, which for many players that upside is realized over the years and not necessarily from year 1. 1 Quote
