I don't know how well it would work in these transfer negotiations but it does seem like a small way for the school to get some leverage back and not sit on their hands for 48-72 hours waiting on decisions and shift some of the pressure to the players on making faster decisions. I keep wondering if those generous offers might have pushed Woods or the UM OLs to make a quicker decision and maybe sign with Texas without waiting to have a sit down with the incumbent school.

Yes, there are all types of deadlines and negotiating tactics (like evaporating offers) that schools use all the times.
