Just rewatched the VY NC game. David Thomas was nails. Just caught everything. Leading receiver on that team. Really liked Ogbanaya. He’s a great choice for the non-star favorites list. I remember him as a guy that just made plays when needed. Selvin Young fit that mold too. 1 Quote
A-A-Ron Hook em Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Jaxon Shipley, he was a great player on some iffy teams. But I can't imagine trying to live up to his brothers shadow. With the recent incident its great to see how close that family truly is. 3 Quote

dmac67 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Lance Gunn - if he wasn’t with the team or in class, he was always hitting the books in PCL…and he was an All American. Edited January 12 by dmac67 1 Quote

Ace Recruiter Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Some solid names. I'll add a few Henry Melton Lamar Houston Cody Johnson Adrian Phillips Quote
MarkInAustin Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Ahmard Hall. The Big Marine played FB for VY and in the NFL for several years. But he was never a star on the best team UT has ever fielded. Y'all know the story of his closed door meeting with the team after the 12-0 loss to OU in 2004 and how they never lost again. Major Applewhite. I was not a fan of benching him in favor of Simms. Simms had the NFL skill set. Major was a leader. Edited January 12 by MarkInAustin Quote
Lewis817 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 He's recent but I really loved watching him cause havoc. Hope he doesn't count as a star I love our safeties. Quote
WWSchott Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Daje Johnson just randomly has a special place in my heart Quote
Purplehorn3 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 My teammate Duane Miller who was a three-year letterman at guard. (1987-1990) I had to go head-to-head with him on a daily basis and usually had to take a handful of Motrin afterwards. His then girlfriend (now wife) made some killer chicken spaghetti. Super nice guy. Became Todd Dodge's OL coach when he was a Rockwall and left coaching to become an attorney. Going back to old school guys: Bruce Scholtz, Mark Lang, The "smurfs" (Billy Boy Bryant, Russell Hays, and Brent Duhon), Mike Reuther, John Hains, Eric Holle, Johnny Walker Quote
Alex C Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Quan Cosby count or is he in "star status"? Same for BJ Johnson. Both had a number one in Jordan Shipley and Roy Williams but they were also studs. Others: Aaron Lewis Roschon for being selfless Michael and Marcus Griffin Those are a few that come to mind. Quote
Sundancekid Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Roshon Johnson. Priest Holmes. Chris Ogynabaya(sp?) David Thomas… we share both names… Quote
