Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 18 hours ago Moderators Posted 18 hours ago Some updates for the team as the month of January begins to turn to February. The full team, to my knowledge, is in Austin. That includes portal additions and of course all of the HS class. The HS class all moved in about 2.5 weeks ago on January 9-10. Now, things all are in the hands of Torre Becton and his staff. Winter workouts have begun for the Texas Longhorns. Of course, the ice storm has made things a bit trickier, but ultimately the team has been working out in the weight room and should get going even more on the field for mat drills + conditioning as the days continue. With the coaches on the road to see 2027 and 2028 prospects, they won't see much of the team for the next week or so. That of course is when Torre Becton's staff comes into play. Texas is looking to replace a lot of leadership – and I have heard the names of importance for the winter include Arch Manning, Trevor Goosby, Connor Robertson and Ryan Wingo on offense. For the other side of the ball, TyAnthony Smith, Colin Simmons, Hero Kanu and Jelani McDonald are going to be where you sit the leadership start. I had long wondered what the vocal leadership component would look like for Texas, but believe they will be in good hands, even with 40+ new faces on campus from the portal and high school ranks. Early enrollee updates should be coming over the next week or so, as their familiarity with the day to day process increases. 33 Quote

So even with the surgeries they had Goosby Wingo and Arch are still present and vocal leaders during winter conditioning? 2 Quote

NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I am very excited to hear updates on tyler atkinson and jermaine bishop since so many on here believe bishop can make an impact as a true freshman on offense. 3 Quote
hookem1014 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Interested to see how leadership and communication evolves in the DB room without Michael Taaffe 2 Quote
Deep in the heart Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Hopefully they can get creative with Seymour and have him in meetings with zoom. It's 2026 damn it! Make it happen! 2 Quote
Rocky P Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I really want to see someone stepup and take a job. Roberson, mack, terry, coleman, lockett, ect. Who is gonna say "this is my job" and own it? 2 Quote

Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 1 hour ago Author Moderators Posted 1 hour ago I should add that the team gets going very very early in the morning for workouts. Nice and brisk this week. 1 Quote
MuschampsWhiteBoard Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago A couple of things. One, I doubt Sarkisian will look to tweak Becton's strength training philosophy, but I think a tweak is in store. The big uglies, especially on the offensive side of the ball, under Sarkisian have never been good in short-yardage situations, situations in which you have to generate power and force from the ground up right here right now. Becton's strength training philosophy is a bit strange to me. He focuses on the speed with which you move the bar and not necessarily how much weight you can lift. For strength training, it matters how much you put under the bar. Moving the bar fast does not lead to strength. Two, I don't feel like there is that much leadership the team is losing compared to what remains in that department. Arch. Simmons. Goosby. McDonald. I mean, those four alone had to be four of the top 6, right? The other two to fill it out were likely Hill and Taaffe. Quote
