My solution was to give burns a shot starting the 9th clean at least he has swing and miss stuff that is somewhat close to the zone. Leffew struggled to go more than 1 inning so starting him was already a mistake and walker is not good. If burns walked 1 person I would have taken him out but leaving pitchers in way too long like we had a 5 run lead was a failure

If your leash for Burns is 1 batter then you are speaking to the confidence you have in him.

To be fair, Burns’s last outing was terrible. The fact he even went in at all was shocking.

I don’t disagree but he’s shown he can go at least an inning for 3 outs most of the time. Leffew hasn’t shown he can go more than 1 inning besides 1 time I think.

I think it should be a consensus that this staff’s management of the bullpen this year has been miserable. Mods would say it, but then that would piss Schloss off and then their info would dry up.

To be fair, they haven't had many opportunities to see the bullpen in high leverage situations this year. I'm confident they'll work it out. Unfortunately, conference champs are often decided by two or fewer games.

He didn't have a chance to cut down the tying run, so it was a bad play to sell out to even try.   Wouldn't have been in the game without his offense to begin with, but he's got to be better defensively.

I quit reading after all the over reactions.   The team is growing and has room to improve. If you believe in Schloss let him work his magic.

I don't know if I would go that far, but I do think that they are still trying to 'figure it out', as in getting a better feel of which reliever is better in what situation, etc.  Just my humble opinion.🤘

I think if we are going to have struggles, now is the time. Would rather put some guys through the wringer to weed out who can’t handle the late inning pressure prior to post season play. If we can manage to win more series than we lose, we will be just fine in the grand scheme. Baseball is a game of streaks, and slumps. Would rather slump now and streak late. It’s not easy to endure losses but if it doesn’t kill us, it’s going to bode well for later in the year.
