Purplehorn3 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago NAACP wants players to boycott Southern schools....Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georga and South Carolina. I won't get into the politics of it but I did notice that Texas wasn't mentioned. I cannot imagine a talented, young athlete giving up a chance to play in the SEC for a huge money bag because a certain organization is butt hurt over a political situation. Somehow Texas was left off the list so maybe we can benefit LOL Quote
Alex Butler Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I saw another article that did mention Texas on this list. It’s always tricky when politics and sports collide. 4 Quote
CutaneousHorn Posted 35 minutes ago Posted 35 minutes ago Texas (the state) is included. This could be a real danger to the SEC, ACC and Big 12. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7292111/2026/05/19/naacp-boycott-public-schools-athletic-programs-voting-rights/?source=user_shared_article&unlocked_article_code=1.jlA.7Ed0.Lwt6BNl6J3N4 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago Yeah, boycott the schools and programs that can 1) pay you the most in NIL 2) develop you into NFL players 3) contain a lot of historical black college campuses. This will have no affect on recruiting. Its unimportant people pissing into the wind because they can't be racists anymore. 1 1 Quote

Austalgia Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago Is the NAACP going to subsidize the money lost in NIL to go play at another school? Hell no. Politics should stay out of sports. Quote

It becomes a problem, because if other school began getting the upper echelon athletes then revenue will follow. The revenue makes the blue bloods blue bloods. Lose the revenue and other can ascend 1 1 Quote

The SEC isn't the SEC without the majority of the top recruits, it's the Sun Belt conference. The athletes don't have to follow the money, the money will follow them. 1 Quote
Bunk Moreland Posted just now Posted just now Apparently some of you don’t realize that boycotts are SUPPOSED to target sectors of the economy that are fiscally or culturally significant. A boycott that doesn’t apply pressure in a meaningful way doesn’t have much chance of achieving its aims. And, incidentally, I would suggest that those of you jumping to conclusions about the NAACP’s objectives and labeling them “racists” without understanding WHY they think a boycott is necessary should probably abide by the rule that it’s better to have no opinion at all than an uninformed opinion. I’m out. Hopefully Bobby can remove this thread before it goes off the rails. Quote
