harveycmd Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I wish the NBA could back to the days when they could indisputably claim they had the best athletes in the world. Cuban spearheaded the rules change that screwed us all. I'm thinking 1996. Jordan was unquestionably the best athlete in the world. 9 June 1996, Kobe had the best draft workout in the history of sports as a 17 year old. The consensus greatest pre-draft workout in American sports history belongs to 17-year-old Kobe Bryant during his legendary 1996 session with the Los Angeles Lakers. Held at the Inglewood YMCA, Lakers General Manager Jerry West originally scheduled the session as a favor to Bryant's agent. To test the high schooler, West matched him up in a 45-minute, one-on-one session against Michael Cooper, a recently retired Lakers defensive legend, former Defensive Player of the Year, and 9-time NBA All-Defensive selection. Bryant dominated the veteran so completely that West famously stopped the session early, stating it was the "greatest workout I've ever seen" and immediately declaring, "He's better than anybody we have on our team right now." This singular workout forced West to orchestrate a trade for the 13th overall pick to secure Bryant, fundamentally altering NBA history. Quote

Texas has like one scholarship I think left. I’d love to add Thiam which would make us Natty favorites. Don’t know if the money is there for it. 1 1 Quote
Uthookem4800 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) @Gerry Hamilton what you think Billy Donovan to Michigan? Edited 1 hour ago by Uthookem4800 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago May has had one of the most successful runs in coaching I can remember. FAU to the Mavericks in 3 years is pretty darn impressive, adding in a NCAAT championship along the way. 2 Quote

Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 1 hour ago Moderators Posted 1 hour ago 1 hour ago, Bevohorns said: wow who should we take from them Texas isn't going to get a starter level player from Michigan for multiple reasons. 1. NIL spend is high on those guys, and they are starters. 2. Michigan will hire a very good coach, and those guys on the team are making big NIL there. 3. So many schools are already very near or tapped out on NIL for their 2026-27 team. Quote

Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 1 hour ago Moderators Posted 1 hour ago Just a reminder for this thread before it gets completely in La-La land. Texas has a terrific roster, with vast majority of NIL spent and accounted for. Texas is not going to try and pluck a Michigan starting player when they already have a roster accounted for, and NIL pretty much accounted for. Texas has six starters right now on their roster in the staffs mind, and some really good role players accounted for. The Texas roster was recruited for roles and minutes/rotations. There's also player development plans for players. Florida, Duke, UConn, Texas, Tennessee, etc... those rosters are already built. And so many teams have spent their allotment on rosters. But I'm willing to bet Michigan hires a damn good coach, and those Michigan kids are under some very nice NIL contracts and remain with the Wolverines for the 2026-27 season. They are already in classes, and summer workouts too. If I was a freshman like a Brandon McCoy, it would give me pause. But very few options at this point in June. Quote
