Still would like to hear the logic on letting Baxter walk…I know the booger eaters up here in Ky are giddy for him

He needed a fresh start in my opinion after the injury and the staff couldn’t guarantee he would start because of the injury.    If Brown and Smothers dont pan out, it will look dumb to have let him walk.

He wasn't the same after the injury. The staff couldn't count on him getting back to top form with Cooper on the way or other options in the portal.

Always thought it was strange that Neto went from a guy with a lot of buzz to getting passed by Connor Stroh and a raw freshman and never seeing the field

100% agree. He always seemed to have a nasty physical streak when he was playing in 2024 and I thought he would slide right into the line up last season as a starter. @CJ Vogelany insight you can share about Neto at Texas?!

What would the Texas fanbase have done (not to mention the brass) if Sark didn’t go to the portal for RB but stuck with Baxter and he either a) was still a step slow or b) got injured again and our running game was no factor at all again?

Seems like Texas has two of the smallest RB’s in terms of weight in their two deep.  I’m seeing bigger backs and thumpers on some of the top teams.  I sure hope Smothers and Brown work out.

Forgot the Miami rb that had a similar injury, Willis McGahee maybe, took him just short of two years.  Granted he rehabbed as a pro.

Derek Cooper and MT3 are big.  It sounds like they have some pony packages that will use the bigger backs.

Bo Barnes leading Kentucky in tackles so far and Baxter 7 carries for 45 yards and 2 tds

Against Youngstown State. No one is denying they can still be good players. Barnes wanted to be guaranteed his spot. Baxter wanted more pay than his production warranted. Do you want players that don’t want to compete? Do want someone that hasn’t shown he is back to his former level, and hasn’t  played a full season ever, to take your NIL from players that are guaranteed P4 production players?

Week 1 overreaction question: Is Nebraska destined to be mid forever?

Is that an overreaction at this point or under reaction?

Just stating guys stats, not fighting for them to have stayed at Texas. Made a comment about Neto earlier as well
