Remembering 9/11

I was working as a consultant for a tech company out of Seattle. I had arrived on the 10th. And the plan was to leave on the 12th. Well that didn't happen. I was in my hotel room watching the horrible news all day. It was unbelievable. I feel there are things we may never know. I am not a conspiracy dude, but there are a lot of worm holes regarding that episode.

I was at home. I had gotten up and had my coffee and taken my son down the road to his middle school and came back home to get ready to head out into my sales territory in N.E. Texas. My Mother in Law called to tell me the news because she knew I probably hadn't turned on the TV. I turned on the TV and the rest of the day was finished before it started. I just sat and watched it all unfold on the TV.  Ended up going to pick my son up around noon and came right back home again and tried explaining was had happened to him. I did a pretty shitty job of it since I had no real explanation.

Twenty-five years ago, Islamist terrorists waged war against innocent men, women, and children going about an ordinary Tuesday morning. They murdered nearly three thousand Americans in cold blood, hoping to bring a nation to its knees.

Today, we remember the evil of that hatred and the greatness of the courage and sacrifice that answered it.

We grieve the innocent, honor the fallen, and give thanks for the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and everyday heroes who ran toward danger when every instinct told them to run away.

Twenty-five years later, evil did not win.

America is still standing. Still free. Still the greatest nation on earth. We do not apologize for that.

Never forget.

I was working for the state at the Office of Court administration. It’s right next to the Capitol. We watched the first plan hit and then they told us all the head home after the second plan hit. There was confusion on if this was Bush related (Former Governor) or possible attacks on all capitols. I remember thinking just how unprepared we all were. When the pentagon got it, I realized we were all vulnerable because we were so unprepared. It took time for F16s to get in the air to protect President Bush. I believe initially one of the fighter jets was from the national guard. When all planes were grounded it simply reinforced how vulnerable we had become. Nobody knew if there were more planes out there. I kept waiting to hear if another place had been hit. It was mass chaos. A lot of time has passed since Pearl Harbor. It’s human nature to relax over a period of time. Those next few days were just unbelievable disbelief in what happened and how it happened. 
 

That day was terrifying for everyone --- nobody knew how far Al‑Qaeda’s attacks were going to go, and the confusion was real. But a lot of us had the same experience you’re describing. It wasn’t just the Capitol; the whole country was trying to process something unimaginable.

I was a sophomore in high school on a school trip out of town and eating at a restaurant while event unfolded. Crazy day that was

I had returned to a previous employer for about three months. I had left a job with a lot of travel which included flying in and out of the airports the planes had taken off from.  I watched on a TV and could not comprehend the towers had fallen. I remember picking up our daughter from high school that day and what had happened had not sunk into her yet. They kept the students in the dark quite a bit.

The important thing to remember is that radical Islamist Muslims did this and continue to try to destroy western civilization. It’s so idiotic that the morons in NYC elected a mayor that wants to turn our country into an Islamist  state.  It’s so appalling I can’t even comprehend it.

And, to make it worse, his attorney general defended an Al Quida member and his sister was married to a 911 hijacker. Let that sink in.
