I just think the outrage is a little overblown because it was AI but a the same time, I am glad he took ownership of it and apologized. El Pancho Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Would this have received the traction if Holly were a Henry and Sark smacked down a man? Even if Holly would have just blown it off and said something to the sort of “Sark is obviously pumped and wants to celebrate with his team”. Instead it was her arrogance storming off that sent the memes ablaze. It was a joke and AI at that. The heat Holly has faced isn’t based on a stupid, classless AI clip. It’s the way she has handled herself in these situations.

Good on him! 🤘🏽 In no way am I “hurt” or “bothered” by arch apologizing😭 good for him and I’m glad he did. I’m “bothered” by the world for piling on a college kid who has been nothing but a great person laughing at a FAKE video 1
genevalonghorn Posted September 15 Posted September 15 This would never have happened if ABC had its equipment straightened out for the game. I realize that there is chaos down on the field/sidelines, but how hard is it? Both sidelines have all kinds of tech going. Yes, sometimes it fails, but by and large, it is running on all cylinders for 60 minutes of game time and the stoppages. If it isn't, it generally gets corrected quickly. 1

Imo, it’s veiled misogyny when we throw out what if it were reversed. I dont care much for non funny. Kick in the nuts isn’t funny. If they portrayed cup checking him like men have down for years, it might be funny as it’s taking a “fun” act and applying it. In general, most men aren’t walking around fearful of women physically so it’s not analogous. To your point, more reason to just avoid violence between sexes. The current gif is one that many women have had to endure so it is very tone deaf. Is it worth the coverage it’s gotten in relation to arch being a bad dude? I don’t think so. Did he get a great early life lesson about his visibility and the weight( it shouldn’t imo) he carries. I think so. Starting qb of one of the largest brands in the world simply can’t take moments off. He accepted this when he came here. Have a great day! Edited September 15 by Thanos72 6 1

I’m “bothered” by the world for piling on a college kid who has been nothing but a great person laughing at a FAKE video But he isn’t. He represents much more than himself at this point and is paid well by multiple sponsors to do so. They can’t be men on the field since they take NIL but a kid off it. He is THE brand. That alone changes everything(if we put everything else to the side). I agree some idiots are making it personal with him and that’s completely unacceptable. He made an immature mistake rather than reveal who he is. That’s nonsense. None of us are the whole of what comes out of our mouths. Often, not even a part. 🤘🏽 7

whereiend Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Was a very dumb thing to say in press conference, we can all agree on that one! Some of the online virtue signalling about this has been something else though. 4 1
BlakeMay Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I think it has blown way out of proportion. It's easier for all of us to say it is funny, it's not funny, and be entitled to whatever you want to think. I try to look at it as, look how young he is, I mean I'm almost 40 and there are tik toks my buddies still send me that I think are hilarious but very childish or dumb, but I still laugh. Just one of those things that is or isn't right, but nobody will ever agree the same way. 2
UTexas Posted September 15 Posted September 15 There was no reason for Arch to apologize. None at all. 2 2

Most of them don't care because it's an obvious nothing burger. Some care because it allows them to virtue signal. Others care solely because it's an easy opportunity to talk smack about Arch or Texas. I love college rivalries because of stuff like this. Arch apologized. Rowe accepted. 🥱 We're on to UTSA. 4
2345togo Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Its AI's fault. And i have a good feeling those words will be a big part of life for the next 3 or 4 years til AI kills us all.

I would have just had Arch call Holly personally to apologize and let the 24-hour news cycle blow over. We are now at the beginning of the cycle again because he released a statement. Would have been worst had he said anything publicly since the comments were done in public.

I’m proud he put something out and I imagine his family wasn’t keen that he said what he did. The gif wasn’t even particularly funny. It was aggressive, not witty and I have a very broad humor spectrum. Lot of men on here without daughters or empathy I guess. Read the twitter reactions “defending” Arch. Misogynistic and awful. While it is a joke, there were a million different means to mock it without showing a man hitting a woman. For those saying and liking, the we’re soft comment, when was it okay to joke about hitting women? I’m Gen X and we’d knock a dude out if he touched a woman( I recognize the irony). It’s lazy and disingenuous to say this falls under soft or woke. It falls under dignity, respect, and grace regardless of the era. Learned a ton about several you today. Too bad. btw, I think Arch is genuinely a good kid. I hope he learns from this. He might not support this kind of violence but many of the twitter responses sure as heck seem to… This is really the only post in the entire thread that nails it. 9 1
