Thoughts on the ugly loss

1. It’s a horrible freaking loss. No sugarcoating. Period. There are few feelings in sports worse than feeling like you gave a game away.

2. Going into the game, Texas was the favorite for a reason. It was said all week the only way Oklahoma would win this game is if Texas helped them/gave them momentum. Well, Texas did it. And the team got the loss they deserved.

A punt blocked for a TD after a bye week following a horrible special teams performance. You deserve to lose.

A late throw pick six INT by a fourth year quarterback that doesn’t seem to be able to process in play when and why to throw a ball away. You deserve to lose. Two INT’s in fourth quarter. You deserve to lose.

3. I will give Oklahoma credit for winning the third quarter physically. They earned the 3rd quarter.

4. Texas defense is playing championship caliber football. The Texas offense and special teams is showing the possibility of pissing away a very good defensive team.

Texas gave up 238 yards, and lost today. Oklahoma was 2-13 on 3rd downs, and Texas lost. That’s bad and rare, period.

5. Going into this game, the team that rushed for the most yards was 23-1-1 in the last 25 games. Texas won the rushing battle, but lost the game. 122 to 83. OU had one run of 42, and zilch otherwise save a couple of effective runs for 6-8 yards.

6. Texas out gained OU 382 to 238. And lost.

7. There is so much more to talk about, but  the reality is Texas gave Oklahoma the opportunity to win the game. And when you do that, a loss is deserved.

8. Texas is a poor offensive football team. There is seemingly a refusal or will to win with physicality. It’s too hit or miss, and too clunky far too often in year six. And Arch makes way too many head scratcher plays with over 20 starts.

——

Texas at 4-1, now has one game margin for error. With no bye week remaining and seven straight SEC games to follow, Texas is a ways away from being a contender for anything meaningful offensively. The offense will look like they are getting well or improving with lesser defensive teams coming in the schedule, but it may be the eyes fooling more than Texas making strides.

Time to force Sarks hand. Should’ve been done last year. Fire Flood and Banks. Hire an OC. This was “the year” and yet we might lose 3+ games and not have a top 50 offense. Brought in a new DC to give Sark more freedom with the offense and yet we have regressed on that side of the ball. Just inexcusable. I’m afraid sark is in over his head and his ego won’t allow him to make the necessary adjustments. Sad loss. Sad outlook

That 4th & 2 should eat Sark alive. Man or mouse and he cowered up like a dog. With how aggressive they’ve shown to be in so many spots, just a horrible decision. Go win the game!

the defense shouldn’t be exempt either, though. They committed some awful penalties to allow OU to sustain drives that were just needless

Yup, I’m still pissed about those trash calls on their only offensive td. Roughing the passer on a double pass I mean has that ever been called?! The DPI was some BS too there was no way he was making that catch. But couldn’t agree more that the offense is the problem here. Arch looks completely overwhelmed. We also aren’t helping him in some instances like where were the hail break screens or just rb screens in general. I’m still oissed at sark for even calling a pass that took that much time to develop with 20 seconds to go and two timeouts. Go to OT AND TRUST YOUR DEFENSE TO GET IT DONE.

What other QB would you rather have Texas taken in arch’s recruiting class?

irrelevant. They would all get coached down to be smashed into Sark's playbook and told to only do as he says

He’s the not the only QB on the roster. He was a totally wasted recruit. His money should have gone elsewhere.

Why dont we use the bench as motivation and a teaching tool ?

This is on Sark. His play calling tells the story, he was playing not to lose. You cannot spend this much money on offensive players to be totally inept. Arch ain't it, I hope he plays better just so he can go to the league...Last thing we need is another year of him at qb and Sark calling plays.

Banks and flood should be left on the tarmac. Connor should not be out starting center. Just a pathetic performance. This is as bad as the Kansas loss to me absolutely pathetic and sark legit said he won’t give up play calling and won’t fire banks. This was the year for sark to get it right and he failed at it. Hope CDC and the brass tell him to hire a OC and give up play calling and if he doesn’t give it up see ya later sark this is all on sark and he refuses to change Mr adapt or die and yet sark won’t adapt we have a championship level defense and our special team and offense is absolutely pathetic

This team isn’t going to the playoffs the way they’re playing on offense. This will be two championship caliber defenses Sark will have pissed away due to inept offense and lack of QB development.

I’m not much of a doom and gloom fan, not really been one to blame the coaches but this one feels like we don’t have a future with Sark as a play caller. It’s very black and white to me. I think Sark’s jumbled up mess of a style has been detrimental to Arch’s development.

Why in the world is Jeff Banks still employed? We are always ill prepared in that phase of the game. It is beyond frustrating.

The same reason Flood is still employed.  And Nansen.  They’re sarks buddies.

New OC is not fixing Arch .  Period.

Finally the truth. You can’t fix the poor decisions with a different OC. The problem wasn’t the play calls or the OL. It is 100% on ARCH.

Because of his and sarks relationship, I think the only option is a disinformation campaign.

Jeff Banks:

How many fake punts have we given up in the last couple years?

How many blocked punts?

How many illegal formations on punt?

Sark: why do we not get more Cooper and Bishop? Royal is watching buddy.

Arch Manning:

Elite 15% of the time and very below average and looks lost the other 85% of the time. Are we gonna stick with this all year? And his seat should not be guaranteed next year if he wants to come back. If his name was Arch Ewers we all know he’d be kicked to the curb just like Quinn was. Unreal.

Sark’s Muschamp hire was the right move, but she shortened his own leash, drastically, what’s the next excuse Sark?
