Jceciliano98 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Not the type of coach Sark is. Team would tell that it's disingenuous, would probably hurt more than help. 1 Quote
Alex Butler Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Muschamp better be on the defense and coaches like that. Maybe he needs to light Sark’s a$$ up and get some intensity and urgency going everywhere. 1 Quote
HalfmileHorn Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I never saw that side of Augie. Wow. Yeah that's not going to work with Sark. Quote

Califashorn75 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Vince Lombardi once had is O-line with rapt attention for 6 hours while he described and explained the same freaking play! 😆 Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I love the time Augie asked the team if they had ever been in a fight? Man he went off that time to. I met him once and we sat down and talked about growing up in California. He grew up in a tough part of Stockton. Quote

I don’t think this is accurate. Sark seems to always be on simmer. He’s intelligent so he knows how to channel. Yelling isn’t intensity and sark absolutely doesn’t lack intensity. It’s unlikely arch is in his head this badly if sark were a mellow, laid back coach. I think missing last summer impacted the culture much more than we realized. I think sark is confounded right now by arch’s play. No one saw this regression happening. I’m in the minority but his head got belted badly twice earlier this year after the physical beat down year. Something is off with him. his play change after the helmet to helmet against utsa. I hope it’s the yips and not something physical for him. I’d sit him this week to so that he can observe the game. AusMOJO Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Sark only gets like this when CJ asks him a question. 1 Quote
Thanos72 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago It wasn’t the right time or worded question. Sark said vague but meant general/broad and there was zero angry tone or inflection. Y’all have got to stop betching about press conference responses. Nothing said will impact Saturday’s. He also answers the questions honestly. Yall just don’t like the responses. Prior to Saturday, it was I’m not making changes. We have things to clean up. We are close. Still stubbornly optimistic they’d turn the corner. This recent one, every thing needs to be evaluated. You could see it was different. Now, if today we hear how the tape wasn’t as bad, we’re close, and it’s overtly downplayed, our season’s most likely done. He knows there’s no positive to benching manning. We can all pretend that it’s just an x/o decision but it’s much broader. I understand why he’s held out even if I disagree. 1 Quote

I keep hearing from you and a lot of mods that doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. So, let's just have Sark keep doing the same things. Sark getting on his guys would come off disingenuous? I guess we should just lay down then. This is a disappointing response. Quote

There’s a difference between scheme changes and different play calls and changing who you are as a leader. Players are smart enough to know when you’re trying to be something you’re not. It would have the opposite of the intended effect. Also, truth be told, I’ve grown to hate this clip of Augie because it gets misused and gets brought every time a team on campus loses. ”Be like Augie!” ”Get fired up like Augie!” They need one of those Augie speeches!” If that’s the first thing people think of when they think about Augie Garrido, then they missed the entire point of who he was and what he was about. He loved baseball but he loved people and his life’s mission was to get people to become the best version of themselves. He had a lot of different ways of helping people reach their goals. Yes, he motivated his team with this particular tirade. But that’s one of the many ways he tried to reach his team. If that’s not Sark’s style, it’ll come off as fake and the players won’t pay attention. They’ll tune it out. 1 Quote

Because whatever message Sark is conveying isn't working. I get there's problems everywhere right now, and a stern talking to isn't going to get it done overnight. At the end of the day, his team isn't responding to his messaging and they're not meeting the moment. Where do we go from here? Who needs to step up? I selfishly want answers like everyone else, and to be clear your reasoning is sound. I'm just not hearing any solutions, just more unveiling of problems. Quote

Part of the reason Augie’s rant meant something is because he rarely acted like that, so the team knew it meant something when he did. I think people believe he acted like that after every loss and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Quote
3LegacyHorn Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago My good friend, Tony Crosby (look up 1st barefoot kicker and 1963 Natl Champ Horns) told me – we could easily be 2-4. So, I think now is the appropriate time to really count our blessings (cut with the negative waves). They are numerous for all us Texas fans. E.g. We will always be a top five astronomy school having the McDonald observatory as a blessing. So lets list all our blessings OK? Quote

The reality is that the Texas offense has problems that can’t be fixed during the season. Only the transfer portal and staff changes will resolve the issues. They’re that bad, which is Sark’s fault for not properly addressing problem areas when he had the chance. The best Sark can do is put a Band-Aid by honing in on the few things the offense has shown it can execute with the understanding that you’re going to be limited. It’s sad and it’s not at all where I expected the offense to be six games into the season, but I feel that’s where we’re at with this team. 1 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted 6 hours ago Moderators Posted 6 hours ago I’ll add this, @Roy Hinojosa, that when Sark mentioned after the game that the offense has mentality/motivation issues, that’s referring to the running game in short-yardage situations. You can’t scheme your way out of those. At some point, guys have to be willing to fire off the ball with everything they’ve got, play with great pad level, get under the defender and run your feet. That’s where the motivational stuff comes into play for me. Too many times I see Texas linemen getting knocked back or catching blocks in short-yardage situations. That’s a specific part of the game, IMO, where it’s about will power and toughness more than scheme. Quote

I know I said it in a previous post, but the problem with the o-line is that they put on their Halloween costumes early this year. What's that Halloween costume? A turnstile. At the end of the day, we need to hit somebody. Quote

How does a finesse cerebral coach like Sark build an offensive identity with more physicality like Kirby, Muschamp, Saban etc do? Is it just handled by assistant coaches? They always say a team resembles its head coach. Is that then the problem? We will never have a physical identity on offense and just have to wear the soft label as long as Sark is here or a generational player like VY comes in and takes that role completely over? Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago When Augie got here, he was already a legend. Sark wasn't. Big difference. Quote
