Texas defeated the No. 7 team in the country on Saturday night without –

  • RB1 Hollywood Smothers
  • RB3 Derrek Cooper
  • WR1 Cam Coleman
  • LT1 Trevor Goosby
  • EDGE1 Colin Simmons
  • EDGE4 Richard Wesley
  • S2 Kobe Black

For those keeping track at home, that is...

3 projected first round picks, one being the best defensive player in the country.

2 five-star freshmen contributors

An All-ACC RB in 2025.

A 6-game starter at safety.

....

Not to mention 14 penalties and three turnovers.

...

But that is a heck of a win given snaps on the sidelines and the (continued and repeated) self-inflicted wounds.

By the way, I don't suspect the self-inflicted wounds to cease. That's who this team is and that's who this staff has allowed them to be.

Always been this way under Sark, always will be this way.

Success rate (similar to Miami Hurricanes):

— Gaining 50%+ of yards needed to move the chains on 1st down

— 70%+ of yards needs to move the chains on 2nd

— 100% of yards needs to move the chains on 3rd and 4th down.

And it's why they will likely never win a Natty here.

Basically how I look at it.

Meaning the staff views penalties as a necessary evil for the players to play free and uninhibited?  How many drive extending personal fouls or excessive celebrations would be deemed too much?

Juice Cryer is becoming one of my favorite players on this team, but even hi ran straight for Bevo after his interception to celebrate.  It's a judgement call if that was too much or not, but why even risk it?  We were luck as shxt to only get a sideline warning on that play.

It means Sark is undisciplined and so is his team.

how is Sark undisciplined?  Is he obese?  Does he lead a dubious lifestyle?

Texas IS consistent.

Consistently

-asleep in the 3rd quarter

-lacking on special teams

-playing with too loose or emotions

-playing up to big games

-playing down to opponents

Seems like a pretty 'buttoned-up' guy to me.

This game seemed a little different to me.  Yes there were a couple of absolute bone head incidents.............but all in all our penalties were from being over aggressive.  For the first time all season, we played with our tails on fire.  Frankly, I (and my newest best frient Spec's), will live it!

This isn't a specific game analysis, this is a multi-year analysis on how poorly disciplined we are as a team. The numbers don't lie.

National Rank in Penalties Per Game:
2021 - 55
2022 - 66
2023 - 98
2024 - 87
2025 - 134
2026 - 83

National Rank in Penalty Yards Per Game(Yardage Avg):
2021 - 45(48.3)
2022 - 39(47.3)
2023 - 73(52.2)
2024 - 73(51.8)
2025 - 132(69.7)
2026 - 105(65.7)
