DarkBoi72 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago @Bobby Burton @Gerry HamiltonQuick question. Is there any reason why we shouldn't have seen KJ for the entire 4th quarter? The game was won. At some point we must let him get some REAL game time. I'm just confused why we refuse to get our backup QB some valuable time. I know almost all of our games have been close, but yesterday was the opportunity. I'm just saying. 2 Quote
Bdub12 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Sark always plays the starters late no matter what. There are certain things he just doesn’t change (same with substitutions or changing starters out during the season) 1 Quote
HalfmileHorn Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I hope Sark builds to more playing time for him. The last series was good to see, but the scope of what we tried was very limited. At least KJ got to throw (and complete) a short pass. I don't think we advanced more than 5 yards total. Quote

If Arch keeps on getting clobbered like Saturday night, he may play a lot. With SEC refs, there are no hits illegal when hitting him. 1 Quote
HookemFromOkc Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I wonder if KJ Lacey will transfer...the way Arch is gonna transfer to Georgia. 🫣🤪 Quote
Moderators Hank South Posted 17 hours ago Moderators Posted 17 hours ago Not sure. I would bet Sark would say it was just the flow of the game but I thought we'd see him earlier as well, especially with how many shots Arch had taken. 2 Quote

You can’t have the backup QB moving the offense and looking better than the starter. Coaching 101 Quote

whereiend Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) I don't get when you think we should have put him in? The score was 24-3 with 10 minutes left in the game. That would be insane to put Lacey in there. Then we scored and it was 31-3. After that Lacey came in.... To get to backups earlier we have to blow the other team out. That just didn't happen until the middle of Q4. Edited 13 hours ago by whereiend 2 Quote
robertcook91 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago This is Texas football. We play junior and senior starters mostly, at QB or any other position. The next year there is a crisis because we have no one with playing experience. Quote

I think that Sark and Herman both have this issue that their offense is too mediocre to ever get separation and blow people out. With Strong we were just hoping to win the damn game, let alone blow someone out. Back in the Mack days when our offense could score 40 points regularly we didn't have this problem and the backups played plenty. The main flaw with Mack is that he'd put in the backup QB but never let him throw the ball. So at that particular position we didn't get any meaningful experience. Califashorn75 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I don't think Arch should come back. The Ravens had a kid out there who can't shine Arch's shoes. Arch will take a bunch of lumps just like all rookie quarterbacks do. He might as well get out there and hopefully learn from a vet. If he wants to be a pro...GO! Quote

The same ones screaming to bench quinn in 2023 and 2024. 2 Quote
AndyL Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago KJ transfers, Arch comes back, Milwee calls plays, and Texas wins a Natty? 1 Quote

ChanmanV Posted 42 minutes ago Posted 42 minutes ago I agree. KJ coming in an just handing the ball off is not useful at all. Mark my word, we will need KJ Lacey at some point this season. Arch looked like he barely survived that MSU game. He was bleeding and getting up slow a number of times after taking too many big hits. Sark's going to keep using him that way because he's most effective when his legs are a factor too but it'll be inevitable he gets knocked out of a game at some point. Quote
