Dread-headed Texan
Lol let's have some fun, I'll even go first. My junior year we went to a track meet where Ben Gay(RIP) was running. Our track coach was also the defensive line coach, and he warned us, make fun of his name all you want but you're going to have to tackle him next year. This dude was running the 100 looking like a Greek god. So my senior year comes, and I'm the starting safety, my job is to fill the alley. Well, you ever see someone run with so much power you can hear it? I read the play and normally size don't matter because my linebackers would make the back turn his shoulders. Well Ben ran over the DT and LB and lil Ole me was the last line of defense, I didn't want those problems so I kept my outside arm free and let him back inside and purposely slipped "trying" to make the tackle. I got up and limped to the sideline and said somebody else can deal with that. 😂 if you're not familiar with Ben Gay, think Derrick Henry playing against high schoolers.

Jarveaux
I played both offense & defensive line & one game will playing defense I I went in the offense huddle after a play . Sixty years later I get reminded often by old teammates regarding that blunder.😂
TexasDeathStar
Got our ass kicked so bad in a JV game my freshman year on the road, and coach told us we had no energy and he had a fix for that. Rather than going to the locker room at halftime, he took us across the field in front of the other teams fans, and made us do up-downs the entire halftime break 😂 1
Chop
Ohh man, mine came in practice holding a blocking pad. I got lit up from a pulling lineman. I knew the play and he rocked me like 3 times in a row where I ended up on my ass lol
Tim Longoria
I got one. So all 4 years of hs I was the deep snapper, but freshman year we figured out I punted better than the punter and he snapped better than me so we switched. This was during the season so I pretty much had zero time to practice before our game. Anyways, we're getting it handed to us, so I'm getting plenty of on the job training, and their rush is getting close each time. My personal protector, instead of stepping up to block, kept dropping back and nearly hitting me, so I told him to quit doing that. What do you know, late 3rd quarter, they send an all out block, I see a shadow on the ball as I go to punt the you know what out of it, and figure out that said shadow was my protector's backside, resulting in me kicking him solid. The ball rolls away, I pick it up and get the first down but only cause everyone was laughing so damn hard at what happened and the end result of him trying to sprint off the field while holding his own rear end.
Dread-headed Texan
Our coach used to tell us on punt return that if you made the first guy miss you'd get a first down on the return which was the goal. So there I am back there thinking I'm going to make the play. They punted it, and I'm looking up thinking I still have time, I look up and across the field and say they're getting closer, why ain't the ball coming down? Finally the ball gets to me at the same time as the defender. I end the play looking out of my ear hole with my coach yelling me good job, I never returned a punt or played offense again. It's way better to deliver the contact than taking it.
Rhenk6768
Thinking I had a good angle and a chance to tackle Jamal Charles. I thought wrong
Thanos72
Damn. I wonder how many legit fast guys thought this. True track speed is something else… 1
Thanos72
It was pop warner for me. We were scrimmaging one of the better teams in the city with a great back. I was lb. I saw him coming and filled the hole perfectly. We were two rams refusing to give ground. When I woke up, I had cleat marks on my jersey and they told me he scored. Austalgia
My brother played against Drew Brees and Westlake. He was a runningback for Pflugerville and they got lit up by Westlake. He was a couple of years behind me. I have 2, I fumbled on the 5 yd line at House Park on a give me touchdown to go up against a rival. We turned it over and didn’t score. However, the worst was I played fullback and linebacker, and we were driving down the field for a go ahead score and I got my helmet locked up blocking a linebacker and he hit hit me after the play while our face masks were connected. I pushed him back pretty hard and separated our helmets and he fell down. I got the 15 yd penalty because they saw me, and we lost the game. I still remember my coach red as a beet and little pieces of tobacco dip flying in my face as he was holding my face mask and yelling at me on the sideline.
Red Five
My pants fell down around midfield. Of course, it was halftime and I was marching with a trumpet at the time.
Brho
8th grade we didn’t really have a punter so I stepped up. Shanked one dead into a stiff breeze and it went for negative yards.
TexasMDcoach
We traveled across the state to play a preseason game. We had never traveled that far and literally all ate the whole way there. We arrived only a few minutes before kickoff, got out of the bus and were all throwing up during the game and got beat by a team we should have easily handled. We had multiple future college players and a couple future pro players on our team and lost to a little scrappy country team with probably not a single guy that would have started on our team. Jbro52
My sophomore year I was moved from TE to center because I was the long snapper and the staring center went out for the year and i thought played ok but there was one run play that I had to pull and I pulled to the wrong side and the rb was blown up in the backfield lol was not a fun moment on the sideline the other embarrassing moment was catching a deep post with no one with in 20 yards of me and was hawked down like I was standing still lol
Drawls
My Senior season at Brandon High School and I was the Mike. The starting D was on the punt return team. We had a return on and only rushed one guy our DE. He got his finger on the punt and it only went 15 yards right to me. Of course, I panicked and tried to catch it in traffic! lol. I got drilled and fumbled it back to the opponent. when I came off the field our head coach greeted me ten yards from the sideline like Jimbo does. He grabbed me by the inside of my shoulder pads and shook me back and forth then slung me down on the field! Right in front of the sold out stadium. The very worst part was all our games were televised and played on Saturday mornings in the metro area. Monday morning at school I was the laughingstock! Very embarrassing.
