I am glad the coaching staff makes the decisions on who they purse because if people in this thread had their way we would have a team full of JAGS.

And we would need at least 125 scholarships to add all the players the 'people in this thread' deem scholly worthy ...

This place, man……

”I like this person.”

”You don’t know football, that person is trash.”

”Why can’t we have this person?”

”That person is garbage and not elite enough for us.”

”Are we ever gonna get a transfer?”

”We only go for the best and tallest and fastest and bestest looking.”

”This guy is a take.”

”You’re an idiot.”

I know we don't necessarily need RB, but man Ahmad Hardy would be an amazing RB to pick up. Just a Fr but he was a beat at ULM. Not sure you could convince him to be sharing reps with at least two other RB's. Projections seem to have him split between Ole Miss and Auburn.

I think we need 4 at a minimum.  Might still have one more portaling....

I thought we needed 4, too. But if you think about it, you've got 3 already there that could be rotational pieces in January, Mitchell and Mills. Say you add two studs from portal (hypothetically) and then you add a Fr into the rotation (maybe)? I could see 3 at most, think 4 is too much.

I'd say go after two top tier guys (if any enter, the guy from Kentucky seems like the only option at the moment) and then try to add another rotational type of guy, like Oatis (might be too big at 390) or the guy from North Carolina.

Been looking through the portal so far and there really isn't any guys except maybe 3 or 4 that we would kick the tires on and imo, only one of them is top tier.

I assume MM is going to USC or another west coast team that wants a drop back QB.  He had a good year at Duke and got better during it. Hope he knows whst he is doing and is getting a good QB coach because he is still not a fininshed product.  Duke was a good school from which to have had a degree.  I don't suppose he has one.

Sucks for Duke.

I saw one where he was projecting toward Auburn.

So some in the chat doesn't like when someone has thought about a kid. I thought this is what it is for, to have back in fourth discussions. It's called opinions, and even if you think the person  is stupid, some others may not. Plus, it not like Texas coach's have not been wrong with a few kids they have brought in from the portal. There's a lot of different aspects to kids in the portal that a lot of us don't know or understand, and that is why questions are asked. JMO

The staff wants transfer guys with production. Just because it’s a UGA player who’s big doesn’t mean the staff will pursue them. They want culture fit and production. If the post has “was a top 100 recruit in ____ class”, and there is no production, then the staff is very likely to pursue. They have plenty of highly rated blue chip players to develop.

I think you're 100% correct, but as it goes with DL, the 3 guys they brought in last year were not big time guys, and only 2 saw the field. I think K. Baker did a great job to develop both guys into really good players. Texas wants 300+ pound guys and they don't have a lot of them in the portal right now? Now Lala (spell) had a good Jr. Year, ok Sr. Year before coming to TX. Was Norton a reach? I'm not sure?
