Ohio State losing to 7-5 Michigan at home and looking like a steaming pile doing it should knock them below the Vols in seeding. True, but they'll claim OSU's wins over Penn State and Indiana as two playoff teams outweighs Tennessee's best win over Alabama.

If it was truly based on rankings then Arizona st and Boise state wouldn’t be 3/4. I think they’ll present the bracket in a way that seeds similar to cbb selections then will do like a first 4 out kind of thing.

If so, Ohio St is locked in over Tennessee.

The four highest ranked conference championships get the top four seeds. The fifth highest ranked gets a bid but no guaranteed seed. It’s solely based on rankings. Ohio State lost at home to Michigan, scored 0 in the second half. Total BS. And I do believe it matters big time for who hosts (home crowd, potential weather, etc.) But it is what it is.

I know Bama won the game in Tuscaloosa first half of the season. But Alabama lost road games at Vanderbilt and Oklahoma (god dog walked against OU). South Carolina smoked both of those teams on the road, and is playing better football now. I totally agree, but Alabama being in the previous ranking and being idle, not sure South Carolina (playing better and trending up) will jump them. Best to just have a deserving SMU there at 11/12. But what should be done and is done might be 2 different things. And this 12 team playoff was suppose to remedy controversy. Bobby Burton
My best guess is ACC is 11 and 12. Texas-SMU, Penn State-Clemson and Notre Dame-Indiana. 5 v 12, 6 v 11, and 7 v 10. There is precedent for still ranking a team like SMU that lost to Clemson higher than who they lost to.

harveycmd
Truth is, if we're seeded five or six, the loss to Georgia in the SEC title game won't really hurt us. Fifth would probably be better, but either of those draws should set us up to make the semifinal against Georgia or Oregon.

I agree with this caveat, Texas beats SC. Full disclosure of bias, I still have cool aid left and I’m a homer, but we are good against running QBs when we prepare for them, and though they have a pass rush, it’s not complemented with the linebackers Georgia has. Don’t get me wrong, their linebackers are good, but not elite with the instincts and speed of Georgia. Think we could score.
Austalgia
We will see if TV sets and money play a part in the decisions pretty quick. SMU draws Dallas and Texas market, but not the national viewership Alabama does. Again, I don’t care, my pony is Texas, but what should happen and what might happen could be different.
