Tito Bonilla Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Burnt Orange Nation just reported that P Ian Ratliff just entered the portal. Makes sense with us just acquiring Jack Bouwmeester 1 Quote
Burnt Orange Horn Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Is Ratliff on scholarship? I thought he was a walk-on? Quote
Maddog109 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 To my knowledge, still a walk-on. We had a walk-on QB or two and a walk-on RB enter the portal in the past two years. So I guess any player can toss his hat into the portal black hole. Quote
_everyoneshere Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 @CJ Vogel Not specific to Petitbon, but would Texas consider a more experienced center for next season? Granted transfers on the O-line aren't a big interest, but is a center with seniority like Majors a good 1 year bridge for the younger upcoming line or is Coach Flood 100% good with who he has now? Same thoughts for a backup QB. I know it's not a consideration, but would a solid SEC grad transfer be a good "break in case of emergency"? Trey Owens is great but is his one year a strong foundation if needed for an SEC game or two or even second half start? *knocks on every tree and wood table nearby* Quote

Texas loves Daniel Cruz. Cole Hutson has worked at the C spot for three years off and on. And Connor Robertson has the most snaps of all at C when he played last year against OU. They like their group on the OL room and the cross training has allowed for much versatility as a result. Also, most of these established OL aren't transferring to a school with this level of depth or competition in the OL room. They want a spot at a higher level, but one that is guaranteed to them. Not one that is going to be a battle all the way to week one and that's what it would be at Texas. 1 Quote
_everyoneshere Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Ok. Even Mel needs to can it with the transfer talk. If Spencer Rattler is starting for the Saints on a Monday night, Quinn can get drafted in a later round this April and be just fine to develop behind a veteran. Looking at the league right now, there aren't a lot of teams with an aging starting QB..except for the Jets, Dallas, Detroit, and the Rams. Arizona, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Miami, KC could probably use a good young 3rd QB though. Giants..need a miracle, worst place for a rookie to step in. 2 Quote

The next 4 games (potentially) will determine Quinn's legacy. 1 Quote
