HookemTexas
CDC won't let bball continue if there's no improvement, easily one of the weakest programs at the moment - almost every other program in campus is ranked in the top 25. 4
MarkInAustin
I think Texas will exceed that prediction, but I don't know by how much. It will depend on injury and recovery. The full complement of eight rotational players has not been available yet. Some of the developmental guys have got some run against the little sisters of the poor, so that a little alternate depth is being created. In the last two games there have been assists, a word that was previously missing. The team has played defense well enough to beat two probable Q1 teams. The offense has only proven complementary against the last two opponents, who put up less resistance than wet papier mache. bierce
Pomeroy has Texas 10th in the conference, just ahead of OU, Georgia, and Arkansas, but with very little difference among the four teams. Missouris is a step back, LSU another step back, Vandy another tiny step back, and So Car bringing up the rear. However, the P5 team just above So Car in the overall rankings is predicted to finish 10-10 in the ACC. That is how good the conference is this year.

I don’t think you can look at those type of rankings because they favor a schedule like we play over a tougher schedule. It’s weird and in don’t understand it. uthorn1374
Like every season, it’s all about conference play and getting into the tournament. Terry might not make it beyond this year.

It’s weird and in don’t understand it. That is nonsense. Pomeroy is one of the most accurate ranking systems precisely because is so concerned with the strength of a team's opponents. A team moves up and down in the rankings only when it wins or loses a game against an opponent by a significant margin greater than a team of its relative strength was expected to have against that opponent. Pomeroy looks at Texas's non-conference schedule and recognizes it is one of the crappiest, 347th out of 364 teams. And it will get worse after we play UNO. You know what really favors wins and losses over strength of schedule? The polls. 1

Nate Oats has a top five team and literally everything at Alabama that Texas will never have. They will never have fans who think looking for a coach right now is the thing to do. Mark Few is just waiting for that CDC call. Let’s all forget our team and current season because CDC is on the phone. And hey that won’t get back to the current Texas coach or the players. Well maybe it will, but so what? Don’t really care about them. Thank god we actually have a great AD. Who actually knows what he is doing. I suggested Oats as a candidate a couple of years before we canned Smart, but since then he whitewashed one of his players taking a firearm to former teammate who then murdered someone. Texas will never hire him now, nor should it. Mark Few is never leaving his fishing grounds in the Pacific Northwest.
AusMOJO
Do we think CDC let's Coach run out his contract and see where it's after that? Not sure what his buyout would be anyway. He seems to be doing alright so far this year. One thing I've noticed is it's harder to recruit Baseball and Basketball, because kids can go to the pro-leagues a lot sooner than they can in football. Not even that, there is more opportunities for them to play overseas in Europe or Australia. I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to Basketball though. I do remember someone saying that CDC is a huge Basketball guy, so if Coach Terry does start struggling, I'm certain he would more than happily pull the plug, so to speak. And what happens when they say no? OMG they wouldn’t do that because well we are Texas.

It was guaranteed for three years only. Unless they counted the interim year, it’s currently year two. Quite certain the buyout would not be the issue. CDC did set it up so it wouldn’t be too much of an issue if he wanted to make a change. Everything after that would be the issue.
bierce
Talking about canning Terry now is silly. We lost to tOSU when we didn't have a projected starter. We lost to two time defending champ and consensus top 3 team UConn when we didn't have our sixth man, who should have been a starter before we added Kaluma. So are we really that far behind projections? No. We didn't beat Syracuse, St. Joe's, and NC State by big margins, but we won all of those games away from Moody, and we won them despite Kent being out of action. Let the season play out, then decide.

I tried watching some Volleyball this year but I've zero idea what is going on half the time, lol. In CDC we trust, as everyone says. He'll make the right decisions. Sounds like it'll be hard to pull a great HC, most of them seem happy where they're at or are getting close to retirement ages/have retired.

tsip92
I’m not worried about where we are now, I’m most interested in where we finish the regular season. From what I’ve seen so far, this team has a lot of room for improvement. It’s on RT to make that happen.
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM Moderators Share Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM This season will all come down to ... can Texas score the ball at a high enough clip in the SEC. I have my doubts - as of today. Texas is not putting enough pressure on quality opponents off the ball. All the defense and rebounding talk won't make a s&%t if you can't score the ball in the 70's consistently in conference play. Even if you play really good D in theory ... the SEC top tier teams are going to score 70+ ... can you match? This is all about the ability to score in the 70's to win games, and even in the low 80's on occasion when pushed to the max.

Appreciate you branching out to other sports. I have become a fan of volleyball as well. Before they made a change in baseball last year, they had a real problem with the same sport. Numerous coaches used the Texas baseball opening to get raises at the school they were already at.
