Moderators CJ Vogel Posted January 14 Moderators Posted January 14 Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Evans, originally from Killeen Shoemaker high school in central Texas, has one year of eligibility remaining after spending three seasons with Penn State. In those three seasons, Evans saw a combined 782 snaps on offense, including 417 in 2024. The veteran wider receiver has elite speed, and was a state finalist in the long jump his senior season at Killeen. In 2024, Evans recorded 415 yards on 21 receptions for 19.8 yards per catch. He had five total touchdowns on the season. The big play ability is there, six of Evans' 21 receptions went for 25 or more yards including three over 45. Baylor was an offer out of HS as well, so will be worth monitoring moving forward for the Longhorns out of the portal. 31 Quote

The stats and play making ability is a huge plus to that. 4 Quote
jonbailey Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I saw his stats and wasn't impressed, then i remembered what that offense looked. 1 Quote
Born Burnt Orange Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Can’t imagine why any Penn State receiver would transfer with that high octane passing offense as they have at PSU. (Sarcasm) 8 Quote
Bunk Moreland Posted January 14 Posted January 14 The key numbers for me, taking into account that he played in a run-first offense, are the 20 YPC, number of explosive plays per reception, and number of touchdowns per reception. He seems like a great fit for Arch to throw it deep. 2 Quote
yoyocc Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Being that he was at Penn State, I'd think he'd be a good culture fit, no? Quote
SB21 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Did we offer him or recruit him hard out of HS? Or was there no real interest from Evans to come here then? Quote

The PSU OV was later in the season, whereas the other two were in the summer. 1 Quote

drag worm Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Take both. Good veterans to put with Wingo and buy time for the freshman to ease into the lineup. Quote
pinkman_90 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 He might be a veteran but he’s actually still very raw and can’t run routes. Don’t see that working for Sark. 1 Quote
