Thanks, Ojeezy.

The only things I'll say regarding my departure is that Hank, Jordan, Chip and Eric had nothing to do with my departure. I respect them and truly want them to do well.

I asked to post a goodbye on the site and was denied the chance to do so.

But as I've said, I've turned the page and I'm looking forward to being a part of the OTF family.

Straight class Mr Howe !

Our boy, Jeff Howe! What a f*cking legend. The OTF crew continues to get stronger and stronger, truly the best in the game.

I don't know about a legend, AusMOJO. I think that just means I've been around for a while!

Regardless, thanks for the welcome!

This is a perfect offseason to bring you in too since we’re rebuilt our o-line and I know you’re gonna be laser focused on Theo development and growth going into the season. I’m very optimistic that we’ll reload especially with Baker and Goosby likely taking over the tackle spots. I’m curious what your take is on Umeozulu and if he’s ready to step in and bring that physicality to the LG spot we need to have a power run game? I think he’s nasty with a mean streak! Also, how do you think we’ll fair replacing Jake Majors at C?!

I'm less concerned about Neto at left guard than I am about who will be the center. I hope it's a true competition between Hutson, Cruz and Robertson and may the best man win.

As for Neto, I don't worry about him physically holding up. I'm concerned about the time it will take for the unit to come together and how the communication will flow since Majors was so experienced and could handle the job.

I think Sark and Flood need to figure out which staple run game concepts they can lean on. I felt like they were forcing the outside zone too much last season. It takes a long time to become a good zone-blocking line, so this group might benefit more from pin/pull stuff and creating leverage and angles to help out.

What a great acquisition. Listened to the blitz from the start (the UT football dark years).  Cant wait for the Oline insight and baseball knowledge! Welcome Jeff.

I couldn't have joined a better time to talk about both, Austalgia.

Welcome @Jeff Howe! Excited to get to read your stuff here on OTF!

Speaking of center, Notre Dame's starting center just entered the portal. Do you think there may be any interest there, then have the battle b/w Neto and Cole at LG?

I know it can happen, and it has worked, but I'm not big on taking portal centers. The only way I'd do it, if I were Sark and/or Flood, is if they didn't have faith in Hutson taking the job and/or felt Cruz wasn't ready. Never say never, but neither has been my impression; I think the staff likes what they've got.

I agree with this take. My biggest concern is that Hutson simply has not developed into a plus player. Going from Majors to Hutson without a true competition gives me nightmares. Flood loves him some Cole Hutson, and that makes me think he already has a leg up on Robertson and Cruz.

IMO Hutson is one of those guys who came in maxed out and that is why he excelled early. If he is starting for us next year I don't think that is a good thing in terms of having a good OL.

Came in needing a lot more time in the weight room.  Then he had that injury as a freshman that required surgery after the season, I believe on his shoulder, and that affected his strength training.

Still needs more strength, IMO.   I think a good off season in the weight room would still improve him.

That won't help his skill level. I'm glad he did well as a true freshmen but he's not good enough.
