Yeah, tells me Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont made this call not him. Mavs might relocate to Vegas in a few years.

Otherwise, it may be the dumbest trade in NBA history. This is obviously true. There is precedent for the other Commissioner and owners to veto an unfair trade (see Chris Paul for Pau Gasol trade). Do you all really think the owners are fine with this talent being given to LA without knowledge of WHY this is actually deemed as fair? Something else is going on with Luka. "I believe that getting an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We're built to win now and in the future." Lakers superstar LeBron James learned of the trade when it broke while he was out to dinner with his family after Saturday's win against the New York Knicks, sources close to James told ESPN. James was surprised by the news, is processing it and had no idea it was in the works, sources said. The Mavericks were motivated to move Doncic due to his constant conditioning concerns, sources told ESPN. There had been significant frustration within the organization about Doncic's lack of discipline regarding his diet and conditioning, which team sources considered a major factor in his injury issues. James knew, he played this like Mob Boss. He should’ve thrown Bronny in the deal.

4thandFive
From what I’ve read (and seen watching) Luka has distanced himself from the front office by not staying in shape and hurting the team. He also complains about refs and calls more than anyone I’ve seen. Stop arguing with the ref and finish the play- oooh they just scored again while you were whining. I used to be a die-hard Mavs fan. Nobody can fill the hole Dirk left. Modern basketball isn’t really appealing to me. Edited Sunday at 06:38 PM by 4thandFive

Since the NBA has been a joke for about fifteen years, it doesn't really matter. To me, Luka was easy to like but impossible to love. Especially when the question became a contract for HALF -A-BILLION Dollars!!! BTW, I used to go to Mavs games with my late father back in the Don Carter days and have some good memories. Never much of a fan after Mark Cuban. I think Cuban is a bit like Jerrah...he loves certain players. Even with Cuban gone, I've pretty much lost interest, but I think the Adelsons got about all they could for Luka and I don't see him leading the Lakers back to greatness. TarrantCoHorn
It’s one thing to move him, but this trade is complete crap. Not watching another Mavs game while Nico is employed.

I used to go to Mavs games up through the early Cuban era. After Cuban became a big mouth idiot, couldn't stand Mavs. That to say I have some distance. Mavs fans who think Luka is some kind of all time great are way out there. He can't play defense. He can't get in good shape. One hot playoff run does not an all time great player make. Davis is a better all around player. Davis is seven years older. Thus the trade is not nearly as lopsided as click bate artists or Mavs fans think. If Luka finally decides to stop eating and drinking like a frat boy (and that's a big "if"), then maybe it's a good long term deal for the Lakers. That takes us back to the defensive problems Luka has. That's the insurmountable fact which makes the deal much murkier than highlight fans think. Watch the film of Luka on both ends of the floor for a few full games, not just the three pointers he hits when he gets hot, take out the emotional elements, and there is not a great disparity. The truth is that if you can get offense from other positions, you're better off without Luka. As a Lakers guy, I'm not counting on any titles with Luka as the "face of the franchise." There's going to have to be other guys that do the real work to cover for Chunky's glaring deficiencies.
