I find it interesting Billy Donovan only makes like 6M a year and his contract is basically up.

He is still only 59 years old.

"Only makes 6M a year" - Man I wish I only made 6 million a year, lol.

That's the case with any coach except for just a handful of guys.

Well.... yeah. But most coaches at this level end up failing. They get fired. Texas could afford, if they really wanted to do it, to hire a tested, great coach for men's basketball.

They've never really done that. Beard was the closest thing to that, having made a FF. But he was an alum -- not that makes him less of a coach, but rather gave Texas an in to offer a deal at roughly market to someone who was inclined to accept it.

Should they end up making a change here, people need to watch this carefully. With the standard CDC has set with his own words, the financial investment to do that is way beyond what they have done in the past, especially with the added cost of compensating the talent. We'll all see it, and judge accordingly.

After reading up on Donovan in Chicago and just contract, job status, and current pay I do believe he is attainable realistically in the 8-9m range.

He starts everything off with what we are hearing. Who is we? All this tells me is Donovan and Synder are not coming here. And Gerry mentioned Synder a few weeks ago.

Time will tell. He had SIX times more NIL than the rest of the Southland Conference COMBINED at McNeese.

Kind of crazy how he cheated his butt off and the best he could do was a Sweet 16.

Not that crazy when you consider how many other teams were cheating but just not getting caught.

I'd take the job for half. Put the rest in the NIL budget. Give me 3 or 4 years and see if I can get it going.

I feel like Goodman reports a new coach is the favorite to a school every other day and multiple coaches for same school.

Everyone does that.

Not that big.  Under 5M.  Iowa balked because of having to still pay McCaffery about 4.4M.
