Moderators CJ Vogel Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM Moderators Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM Steve Sarkisian has announced Texas will not have a 2025 spring football game. During his conversation with Kay Adams Thursday morning, Sarkisian made it official that the Longhorns will forego their annual spring football game. OTF had reported this was a possibility for about a few weeks now. On top of this news, I can add I have heard it is unlikely that Texas suits up completely for their spring football practices. Full schedule and itinerary set to come out in the coming weeks. 12 2 5 Quote
Drunk randoke Posted Thursday at 04:42 PM Posted Thursday at 04:42 PM Aight I love my spring game. It’s a practice. I love it. But I get it. Would like something to whet my appetite. Hook em 1 Quote

Rhorn Posted Thursday at 04:46 PM Posted Thursday at 04:46 PM I get it but was looking forward to taking my son. I record it and watch it about 15 times before the season. Bummer 1 Quote
Shane Posted Thursday at 04:49 PM Posted Thursday at 04:49 PM This is the new era of college football. Unfortunate to lose the spring game but it’s understandable 1 Quote

Austalgia Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM (edited) Everyone gets it, I don’t. A big part of this is about the fans. I like taking the kids, and the experience of getting a first look at the new team. This isn’t the pros. You take college football little by little bit out of college football and this thing tanks. Players and coaches don’t drive this thing. It’s the college logo, and the fans that follow that logo. Not saying they aren’t a part, but they are renters and passing through. Fans, the college, and traditions are the constants. Edited Thursday at 05:04 PM by Austalgia 1 5 Quote

This is more an attempt to prevent tampering opportunities by other schools before the portal opens up. 5 Quote

Find some happy medium. OatA’s, that’s bulls!$t. Besides, the running backs didn’t get hurt in spring game. Of course don’t want anyone hurt, but it’s football, unfortunate things happen. Guarantee there will be just as many injuries or more when you go cold into full pads later. Edited Thursday at 05:21 PM by Austalgia 2 Quote
qaertyisthatdude Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM If they open and close the 2nd portal window before the spring games, then the spring games will return. This will be the new norm in the future unless that changes, at the expense of the fans. 1 Quote
Waxahorn Posted Thursday at 05:23 PM Posted Thursday at 05:23 PM We live in interesting times. Please let us not adopt the new NFL kickoff. 2 2 Quote

The winter portal with NSD, playoffs, bowl games, academic calendars in Dec/Jan, and etc is just too much. Edited Thursday at 05:26 PM by Hashtag 4 Quote
