Purplehorn3 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 People have lost their lives (and body parts) as a result of the o.u. rivalry. There is your answer Quote
Ace Recruiter Posted February 24 Posted February 24 The gooners are like snakes. Can't stand the slimy, dirt traveling scum, but have a little respect for them (on the field) because they can bite you. Agsy is like a bunch of gnats, harmless, but annoying. Every once in a while one gets in your eye and it sucks, but for the most part who cares about them. Hate losing to either, but glad to be neither. 🤘 1 Quote
Caver60 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I have respect for OU's historical commitment to winning championships. That commitment transcends beating Texas. I have no respect for A&M, because historically they were only committed to beating Texas. This is why moving to the SEC was good for them. It's been jarring and satisfying to see them revert to their old ways now that big brother is home, and I welcome their small-mindedness fully. It's what will keep them exactly where they are. 2 Quote
TexShoe Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Hate them both, but I have a FAR harder time seeing A&M winning, if that's some kind of tiebreaker. Quote
Clint Baros Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 20 hours ago, LECHorns said: I bet the respondent's age is going to have a perfect correlation to the respondent's answer here. When I was on campus, we waxed A&M every year and OU was really all that stood between us and a national championship bid. There is nothing like the second Saturday in October. To me, OU is absolutely our biggest football rivalry. I never even "hated" A&M until recently. I obviously never want(ed) to lose to them, but they were really like my little brother -- I wanted to beat them at all cost, but I didn't necessarily want others to beat them. That changed recently, however. Every sport outside of football, I care more about beating A&M than OU. I also bet that younger Longhorns (i.e., on campus today) will grow up thinking of A&M as the bigger rival. We may boat race OU for the next few years, and there are all kinds of storylines beneath the Aggie hate right now. Tickets for Schloss's first series against A&M will probably break NCAA baseball records, just like the game at Kyle Field a few months ago broke football records. I don't even know when we play OU in baseball. You hit the nail on the head. I live in College Station as a college student (Didn't get accepted to UT) so beating A&M is for sure more important to me than OU. In football, it is hard for me to think because the OU game is a game where anything can happen whereas I want to beat A&M so much more. In other sports tho, I could care less about OU. Quote

Share the exact same sentiment. I feel like Texas and OU have a mutual respect for each other in the sense both programs are historic and both teams season does not revolve around beating the other. Whereas A&M there is the animosity with little to no respect for the other. Quote

Most OU fans hat Texas, they misspell Texas, and their recruits, players, coaches, fans and former players throw the hands down signal more than others imo. I’m 42, growing up I thought A&M was our biggest rival until OU kicked our butts the year they won the natty. Living in Texas, I came across so many of the maroon wearing faithful, and there was also a phrase, “40% of the state is Texas fans, 40% of the state are A&M fans, and the other 2O% we don’t care about”. I hate OU though. I want to see them suffer like Nebraska has. 1 Quote
Dkress Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Gooners are the most hated and biggest rivals. Aggies are like that little annoying cousin that you almost (yes almost) feel sorry for. 1 Quote
Roysterr Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Aggies by far, we live with them. My brother and business partner is an Aggie. I have friends that are Aggies. I only know one person that went to OU. 1 Quote
