Blake, what can you tell me about the tall girl on Monterey's team, think her last name is Johnson?

nm- I looked up her stats, 6'4" and seems athletic.  Wonder what she'll look like next year?

I'm glad to see Texas heavily involved here.  There's another girl in this state that deserves mention but hasn't gotten the national attention.   Megyn Meekins of Nocona HS passed 3000 points in her career.  BTW they are headed back to the championship game in their 2A division.

Go get'em, Vic!

Disagree. She’s the caliber of player you could win multiple championships with

I’m about to hit the road and head to Abilene, where I’ll be watching No. 5 Lubbock Monterey square off against No. 6 Frisco Memorial in the 5A-Division II semi-finals at Hardin-Simmons University. Tip off is set for 6:30 PM

Tonight all eyes will be on five-star prospect Aaliyah Chavez. The nation’s No. 1 player overall has had a remarkable season, averaging 35.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Chavez is down to Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and South Carolina.

I’ll be bringing y’all updates throughout the evening, so stay tuned.

Sounds like she embraces being a leader and role model. If she went to Texas, she have one if the largest Hispanic( Mexican-American largely) populations in South Texas. San Antonio loves girl sports and how she carries herself would endear her. Be great for a lot of girls in Austin/San Antonio area.

Was Catlin be worth it? Paige B.. JuJu... This market is entirely different than softball.

Did the Romans give up in Gettysburg when Egypt had them pinned up at the Alamo????? Then we should never give up…no matter the cost.

Her family is well aware of this, too.

The Nike vs Adidas decision has always been the hurdle for TT.

She’s always been a Nike kid

We shall see

Texas isn’t overpaying

This will not come down to a Texas NIL deal … it will be a part of it, but a small part

She’s got real opportunities outside of Texas One Fund that will be much more lucrative

She’s a force down low but she would get bullied in high level college basketball. She needs to get a long stronger imo.

She will end up with a Nike shoe deal if she goes to Texas and if she makes the impact that she thinks she’ll have as the #1 HS player.
