Moderators Jeff Howe Posted April 14 Moderators Posted April 14 Along with the series win over Kentucky, Georgia took 2 of 3 from Arkansas in Athens. The Longhorns haven’t lost a weekend all season. 10 1 Quote

Schloss has done a great job with this team. We are heavily reliant on Mendoza, Galvan, Flores and Gasparino. Belyeu’s bat is sorely missed. Against Kentucky we didn’t get any production out of the DH, RF and LF spots.,Those spots in the lineup were 2 for 33 with 13 strikeouts. Duplantier batting average is now 120. Thankfully our pitching has been good and hopefully it can continue. 2 Quote

Interestingly, Flores has had some clutch hits, but is only batting .190 in SEC play. He hasn't had a 2 hit game since the Sam Houston game. Also, Duplantier is hitless in SEC play. Rodriquez, Stewart, Winfield, and Chamberlain are all hitting under .200 in SEC play, while Galvan, Gasparino, Mendoza, and Schuessler are all hitting .300 or above. We definitely need for strikeouts to be cut down some and for some guys to step up. Max is being sorely missed. 3 Quote
HookedOnTF Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Not celebrating yet but I'd rather climb to here than start #1 and drop out! Unreal.😂 2 Quote

Like you pointed out, a few guys have struggled but Flores can get hot and carry a team. He may need to. I don’t how you keep running Duplantier out there. Lifetime 190 hitter, currently at 120. It’s possible he could start hitting but nothing in his 3 years indicate that. I would give Winfield those at bats and see if he can break out. At ULM last year he hit over 330, with 10 HR, 40 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. He has struggled but still hitting 70 points higher than Duplantier and with more potential upside. This team is fun to watch though. Edited April 14 by marathon 3 Quote

Hermanator Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I just can't get into watching college baseball. I've tried. But I am following the team through box scores this season. Usually I just ignore baseball. But this season's story with Schloss and ripping him from aggy is just too interesting to ignore. Quote
qaertyisthatdude Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Baseball's natty was the 2004-05 season and football's natty was the 2005-06 season. 2 Quote

No LHN so I can actually get the game on TV, and much more interesting competition in the SEC. 2 Quote

I can barely get myself to watch a few Rangers games a year, and that's only because I grew up watching them with my grandparents so it's more nostalgia than anything. I was on campus as a student during the 2005 national championship for baseball but never got into watching them. Goes to show how interesting of a story this season is if even I'm paying any attention at all to it. Edited April 14 by Hermanator Quote
