Especially with a legacy, it’s beyond mind boggling to see the classless disrespect for his dad’s Alma mater, who recruited him hard, why would Kaydon throw the Texas hat on the ground?    For the hundreds of hours of time and all the money invested by schools in their recruitment, this crap reflects low character imho.

It’s not that deep. It’s a teenager picking a school on one of the best days of his life.  He did not set out to disrespect Texas.

Fully appreciate it’s one of the best days of his life.   There’s a right way and wrong way to do things in the moment, imo.

Ojo was a different level of classless with all the deception beforehand combined with the way he did his announcement.   I’m not suggesting Finley comes close to Ojo, just think he could be better, especially given how great of a legacy his dad built at UT.

Wait, you guys are …well is that what he did? I didn’t see it. IF he did throw it on the ground then yes he did disrespect Texas which is different than if it bothers the poster or me ,for that matter, that he did.

Ok. I think you are making a mountain of a molehill.

Watching different announcement ceremonies each year, it’s impressive to see kids (regardless of whether they choose Texas or another school) who show a lot of class and character, who are transparent and honest throughout the process then show humility, respect and gratitude (at the time of their decision announcement) for each of the schools who rolled out the red carpet for them over a multi-year process.    The ‘hat fake’ is tired at this point, imho.

These guys are going to learn it’s not wise to burn bridges. How do they know some day these college coaches aren’t in the NFL or what if they are in the portal and they look to play for one of them? Or how about getting a job with a Longhorn alumni that saw the video? Just not a wise move. Could even hurt their NIL opportunities?

If that's how he feels... cool. If Pop's gon let him get down like that, cool. My Horns saw that. The recruiting class saw that. Jalen and James Lott saw it, too. They also watched Ojo play games, too.

At the end of the day... handle your business and hope they land on the schedule in the playoffs. Settle it on the field and make him regret it. Period.

As for Pop's.... he's just being a dad... but he gets the smallest steak at the alumni gatherings, no cap!🤘🏿

These dudes get caught up in the moment. No big deal.

Agreed but glad there was a thread about it. I think pretty much every longhorns fan will root for the finleys even at notre Dame. Just odd to toss a Texas hat to the ground.

It's water under the bridge but would have been much more fitting had he tossed an A and M hat.

Why post this stupid crap go touch grass or go to orange bloods

One of the few times I disagree with you. Although it's not a big deal it's odd behavior by the kid.

We'll see how he does in that system with their average QBs.

Not a kid I'd recruit through the whistle or accept in the portal for that move. Alright I'll smoke grass.

Do you recall a kid picking Texas who greatly disrespected another school in the process? Or could have done it “better”? Didn’t think so.

Growing up in a household likely full of burnt orange and a framed jersey with Daddy's and His last name on it... and surely Daddy watched Longhorns games on TV and pulled for Texas...

I just know if it were me doing that, my (late) father would have made me pick up the cap and apologize to him and the coaches who recruited me for such classless behavior.

This shows me that Texas potentially dodged a character bullet. Too bad he can't go back in time and play for Miami circa 1990-1991. I have to believe the ND staff were embarrassed.

If this had been at A&M or OU, I "might" have understood it. But, it's an honor to represent Notre Dame and his actions are out of line with the character of the Irish.

It's just a shame because his Daddy was a credit to the Longhorns. He must be embarrassed.

Interesting to see the mix of comments on this topic.   Surprised by a few.   For me, this goes beyond football and the Kaydon Finley example is extremely minor overall.   It was an observation about a moment that was disappointing and unnecessary, especially given his dad’s legacy.

More broadly for me, It’s a commentary about doing things the right way.    Representing yourself and your family with character and class.

The Felix Ojo example was far more egregious and I’m extremely thankful that guy isn’t gonna be a Horn.

For a few of you who’ve made incorrect assumptions about me, I feel this even stronger when a Texas longhorn crosses the line.   Since Sark has taken over, it’s been refreshing to see the focus on character, doing things the right way, proving it on the field, “who you are some of the time is who you are all the time”.   I hope Sark is the head of our football program for the next decade-plus.   A much needed change because it wasn’t that long ago when Longhorns (Coaches, Administrators, Players) were definitely not doing things ‘the right way’.

When Herman was our coach, I couldn’t stand the way he ‘led’ our team in such a classless, low character way.   His lack of character, high ego, narcissistic self important mindset flowed down to some of the team and it was sickening.   I posted about it at the time as did others, on other boards.   The importance of representing yourself and the university with class.   Winning is not all that matters.

Back to the present day.  Fired up and excited for our Horns.   Great leadership, accountability, culture.  Let’s keep it going.

Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼

I tossed my UT hat on the ground right after Gideon dropped a game clinching INT and then threw it to the ground again right after Crabtree caught a game winning TD against us. I guess I’m a Longhorn disrespecting a-hole. Some of yall take this recruiting thing too seriously.

Not gone lie I thought it was extremely disrespectful and it made me look at him different

Chose another school.  That's fine by me.

Be disrespectful and I will return the favor.  I have none for him and that stupid dye job on his hair.  He might be too sweet to play for Texas.
