That's why it's ironic that LJ is supposedly ready to expand the DT rotation now. Knowles begged Day to let him actually run the defense for 2 1/2 years. It took the Oregon loss to convince Day that Knowles should have his say on blitzes. There was no need for blitzes against Michigan, but LJ still wouldn't rotate the DTs. This isn’t accurate at all. Please do not forget that Larry Johnson is an elite DL coach, a better DL coach than Knowles is a DC, and Knowles is a damn good DC. The reason Knowles left is because  Penn State offered him $3M/year, which Ohio State was never going to match that, nor should they have.

Also, Larry Johnson expands the DL rotation based on how many guys he has that has earned playing team. If there are only one or two backups that are ready to play at a high level, there won’t be much rotation. Historically LJ prefers to rotate often, which early in his tenure made Buckeye fans mad because we didn’t want Joey Bosa or Chase Young, etc taken off the field.
