We have 3 #18s on the roster - LB Liona Lefau, QBs Joe Tatum and Matthew Caldwell.  That's gonna get awkward come game day...

If Joe Tatum ever takes a snap, things are incredibly good or incredibly bad. You'd have to have four scholarship quarterbacks go down before Tatum playing would be a possibility.

If it does become a problem, then one of two things will happen: One player will put on a random jersey with no name on the back (we see this sometimes in games on special teams where numbers double up) or one player's number will change.

How dare you besmirch the ability of Joe Tatum.

#10 and #12 appear to be open.  I vote we plug one of them in there!

Haha good luck selling that to any diehard Texas fan

I've wondered why Caldwell wasn't given 19, last worn by Cole Lourd. 19 currently is Bouwmeester (ST) and Zina Umeozulu (Def) There was room for an offensive player, same as 15 with Owens, Stone, and Terry.

This reminds me of the other night when I was laying awake in bed and this thought randomly popped into my head: if #22 was retired for Bobby Layne, how the hell was Ryan Nunez wearing it back in the 90s? I had to look it up, apparently Layne's number wasn't retired until 2008 (along with VY's #10).

You know we are getting close to football season when thoughts like that are keeping you up at night.

And Selvin Young wore #22.  At least he had the decency to win a natty!

Shoot, post VY, I think it was James Kirkendoll who wore #10 for a year.  Talk about sacrilegious...
