Problem for Bama fans is they can't fire DeBoer unless they get about 200 million in donations. DeBoer's buyout is 67 million. Rest of the coaching staff a good 15 million. They have to pay the next guy at least 100 million guaranteed to come in if they want a proven, big time coach rather than an up-and-comer. The rest of the staff will probably need 20 million.

There was no doubt the bama finebaum callers would be out in full force after that fiasco on sat. Question is who would even be a realistic hire?  Would they go back to Dabo?  Smart?  Can’t see either one of those guys wanting to leave. Gruden?

Bama fans, administrators, donors all LOVE Sark. I think he’s perfectly happy in Austin and feels like he is better equipped at UT to win big than anywhere else. But I could also see Bama framing it to him as “you could come save Alabama football” and bring in Saban to make the hard sell. They might offer him crazy money and make him say no. I still don’t think he’d leave, but it might be a 50/50 decision if Bama came at him hard.

Basically what happened to Kalen DeBoer.  He was offered big money to keep the Ferrari on the road like Ryan Day.  Not sure even a big bag could convince Sark to do another full on rebuild of a blueblood program.  I think the only college HC job he might leave for is Southern Cal because that's where he grew up.  Otherwise it's Texas or NFL.

Yeah there’s no way sark goes to bama now. Not with the way Texas has been rebuilt and seeing how difficult it is for anyone to step in Sabans shadow.   I think bama will have a tough time convincing any of the top 5-10 established coaches to go there.  Urban Meyer maybe? I could see an nfl hire though.

Didn’t they try to get sark before they settled for deboer? I remember sark signed an extension the day everybody was worried

Bama fans do like Sark, but it's not financially doable. Can't see him wanting to go either. They could get Gruden, but it would be risky and really expensive.

Yeah I completely agree that Sark to Bama feels very unlikely, especially after all the sustained success he’s had at Texas. Doesn’t seem like he’d be bored yet since he hasn’t won anything meaningful. And Texas should be able to counter any major financial push that Bama makes. But I have a suspicion they will make another run at him regardless. They will want to get this next hire right if DeBoer doesn’t work out.

This would be a pretty good time for them to try to make a run at Dabo, with Klubnik done after this season. But Bama probably doesn’t want a guy that has had defensive struggles in the very recent past.

Agree with this.  He clearly likes the big city and just got a fat extension.  It’s almost all downside there.  They need one more coach to purge their entitlement.  Their next guy will be a defensive guy because seeing crappy defense guts their souls after having the GOAT.
