Amen, thanks for posting…interesting to see if we got honest takes from @Gerry Hamiltonand team as Arch should be much more developed. Definitely AlOT of flaws in his passing ability

He’s played two games. Need more games to see what Texas has in Arch.

I guess I'm confused, because unless this is just completely random, it feels like a "Wow, we sure do miss Quinn!" thread, on a day when our quarterback scored five TDs.

He probably would have hit a few more passes today and may have seen the open intermediate crosser Arch keeps missing on some of his deep shots. He also would have been sacked about 5 times by SJSU.

I dont think its that. It's how efficient and lethal Quinn was in the areas Arch is struggling in right now. Quinn did get alot of some unnecessary hate last year, and I think they're apologizing for it

I defended Quinn always, and the only thing that I think people need to do is realize that Arch wasn’t going to take us any further the last two years than QE did.  However, Arch is young, and I think he will get better.  It would help him (the team) if we could run better and if another receiver would step up, but there is time for another WR to step.  Well 2 more cupcakes before Florida and Dirt Robbers.

Unrealistic and unfair expectations for Arch. People expected him to win the Heisman, lead the Longhorns to the National Championship, then go #1 overall to the Saints next year and be Drew Brees 2.0. 

 

Fact is Arch is a very talented kid on a very talented team that will win most of their games, but struggle because they are young. Arch is no exception to that. He looked better than he did last year, and will probably look better next week than he did this week. Its the pattern. He is going to be a completely different quarterback in two months. 

 

Regarding Quinn, absolutely under-appreciated. The Horns don't ascend to where they are now without him. You could make the argument that with Cedric Baxter last year (or perhaps Jonathan Brooks the year before), they could have gone all the way. Additionally, look at the redzone issues that have plagued this team for years. Can't blame those all on Quinn when we saw the exact same stuff last week. 

 

Quinn is the first big recruit I ever followed and has a very special place in my Longhorn fandom.

This is absolutely true. I think the argument, if there is one, is that playing Arch last year could have been a net wash, meaning you don't win any more games or lose any more games because of him, and he is better prepared coming into this season. I get why people make this argument, I don't agree with it, but I get it.

I always appreciated Quinn but let's not pretend like he didn't have some bad games himself. Though I can't deny a 4th year starting QB coming back would've been great but he definitely had way more weapons than Arch has at the moment. If our top WR is Parker Livingstone, that is not a good thing (no offense to Parker he's my dude). 

So far Wingo not living up to his hype or level, Moore has been MIA, although I know he's injured. 

But before I get side tracked again, love Quinn and everything he did here at Texas, the good, the bad and the ugly. That guy is always going to be a Longhorn.

Quinn did have bad moments last year. Not denying that, but there were people acting like quinn was a complete bum and should be playing at North Texas

He had bad moments in all his years here, I guess people forget his first season here and the up's/downs. He definitely is no bum though and deserved his place here.

They all have bad moments. Vince and Colt aren't immune to that either. There's just tons of overreactions. Todays game thread is proof of that lol. Just think if Quinn stayed at osu and we had to run it back with Thompson or Card. No shade to those guys but no thanks

I think if you don't get Ewers in the portal, he definitely would've gone after someone else. No idea what happened to Card thought he would be a better prospect but after that beating he took after the Arky game he never really seemed to be the same.

I thought card was going to be good to. I tend agree with you, that arky game had a Garrett Gilbert affect on him. And he always had a nagging injury to. I dont remember the game but I remember him having to gut it out on 1 leg.

believe it was later in that season when Thompson went out with Injury and it might've been WV or someone like that. He came in and played pretty well. He also came in during '22 when Ewers got hurt in that Bama game. Even though he was banged up himself. That might be the game you're talking about.
