OnTexasFootball can report that Texas remains in contact with 4-star++ Florida Gators DL commit Kendall Guervil (Fort Myers, Gla./High).

Guervil committed to Florida over Texas July 2.

The 6-4.5, 310 pounder suffered a season ending knee injury (ACL) in the season opener, but that has not kept Kenny Baker and staff from remaining in contact.

Makes sense esp if auburn pries wells away. Hopefully we can hang on to him too

I know there has been thought that Texas can land 5 DTs from high school this cycle, but I just don't see it.  Between the amount of NIL allocation and other programs selling more playing time, I think they end up with 4 and be happy about it.  They do that and add 1 or 2 bodies in the portal, they should be set in that room for 2026 onward.  Hopefully, this would be the last offseason they would have to take more than one DT in the portal, assuming the guys they got in the portal last offseason pan out and the 2025 high school recruits begin to see the field.  Hope Melvin Hills sticks it out.

All I was thinking about when USF made that game winning FG was Heze Kent and K.Guervil standing on the Florida sideline thinking to themselves WTF?

Heze kent had his chance, made the wrong decision and hopefully we’ve moved on from a dude that thinks he’s a tight end at almost 300 pounds.

As much as his size concerns you I'd love to have him as a wildcat option the way Ole Miss used that one 325 lb D-lineman last year. Would go a long way to solving our red-zone issues.
