DirectorsCupUpdates Posted November 20, 2025 Author Posted November 20, 2025 Cross country finished their seasons last weekend. The men took 5th in the regional, not impressive but will earn 27ish Directors Cup points. The women with a really poor showing and a 7th place finish. That’ll be a 0 for the cup. Hopefully this is 1 of our 2 dropped scores. Texas really needs to invest in some distance runners. Some top Cc runners that can also score in distance events in track and field. 1 Quote

They were very competitive in their first year last year and have brought in quality players. Not sure if they have a roster to go deeper than the elite 8 like last year though as at that point you have to beat a well established power. Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted November 26, 2025 Author Posted November 26, 2025 Texas will make their appearance in the top 10 at some point during the winter season. Let’s see how close football and volleyball can get them! Quote
HookemTexas Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Well football may not make the playoffs, so that's points from last year down. Quote
HookemTexas Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 The women's teams will need to carry the load again this year with football missing the playoffs (except for Swimming & Diving where both teams need to, but the men will be favorites for the title). Softball will be expected to compete for a championship, not sure where baseball will be, women's bball expected to compete, doubt it on men's bball (after watching Virginia take them to the woodshed), so far volleyball looking good. Yep, and this has been the case over the years. Plenty of good men’s teams over the years, spread across all the men’s sports at times, but the consistently high performing teams have mostly been on the women’s side. Men’s swimming, golf and tennis probably the most consistent on that side of things. Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 this golf team is stacked. Beat host Arizona by 1 stroke. Not a super strong field. Did it all without their best golfer, Christian Maas who was competing in a pro event and finished as top amateur. 3 Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 I think it’s an uphill battle for Texas this year but a 50 point edge for Stanford can disappear very quickly. we definitely need men’s hoops to make the tourney. And need a lot more track and field points compared to last year. 2 Quote

HookemTexas Posted January 28 Posted January 28 How do Stanford's baseball and basketball teams look? With the number of small sports they have, if any of their major require teams make points, it's a massive advantage for them. Texas' director cup wins have partially been because Stanford's big required sports teams for the most part have been atrocious. Quote

Texas' director cup wins have partially been because Stanford's big required sports teams for the most part have been atrocious. Stanford Men's Hoops has been a regular 0 for them recently. They had a hot start but have fallen off recently and are probably not a tournament team this year. Their baseball has been up and down. Missed the tourney last year. Not ranked to start this season but they have a history of being pretty good. If they return to being a top 16ish baseball program, itll be tough to beat Stanford consistently in the Directors' Cup. Women's basketball was a perenial power but their coach retired and they were awful last year. They have rebounded (pun intended) this year and are likely in the tournament at this time but have also lost 4 in a row. If they continue to slide and fall out of the tournament, that would really open the door for Texas. 4 Quote
