Califashorn75 Posted Tuesday at 06:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:04 PM (edited) Denius fields would be perfect for indoor track and a more intimate soccer stadium. Edited Tuesday at 06:04 PM by Califashorn75 1 Quote
Califashorn75 Posted Tuesday at 06:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:05 PM Pretty much all athletes should be on a scholarship. 1 Quote

We should have women's gymnastics and men's wrestling. CDC, are you listening? More women’s sports will be eventually added but not men’s per Title 9 guidelines. Quote

Big difference between UT's and Stanford's overall position is that UT doesn't have extra scoring sports to cover a big unexpected letdown. Stanford has solid scores which are currently outside the 20 sport cutoff (5 50+ scores) which would just slide into place in case of an unexpectedly poor performance in some sport. UT doesn't have that buffer, so all the spring sports really have to perform in order to grab the DC. You said 20 sport cut off. It’s 19 sports. That’s probably why our score prediction is different. 2 Quote

I posted the updated scholarship caps per sport above. Thanks to crew roster capacity more than tripling, as well as soccer & softball doubling -- Texas actually has more scholarship slots for female than male athletes. Whether they choose to fill all of those is a different story - but the increases in baseball & football are potentially offset by crew, soccer & softball. 1 Quote

Now our predictions are within 10 points each on Texas and Stanford, which would just be attributable to which ranking systems we use for the various sports. I started doing my own just because I wanted to be able to follow along at each competition level more closely, I'm currently tracking 24 schools in all (chosen based on fall/.winter standings and strength of spring sports), but that's overkill at this point. The hardest part to me was figuring out which scoring table applied to which sport, which required some reverse engineering from past results (golf scoring in particular surprised me). 1 Quote

Glad I could help. And yes, there will always be small amounts of variability among those of us that track this thing. I am glad to have a handful of others out there doing some tracking as it helps create a consensus. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have a question about scoring in a particular sport. There have been some oddities over the years that I have had to figure out (sorting out all the ties in golf after regionals is my least favorite part). Quote
