HookemTexas Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Props where it's due, Texas took aggy's women's tennis coach and they found a replacement who's brought them championships. Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut. Quote

The SEC golf tournaments are scored based on match play for the top 8 teams and stroke play for 9-16. I had been told by someone in an SEC athletic department in the past that it was stroke play but they must have been wrong. Unfortunately, there is no detailed scoring info available but I have finally been in contact with the USA today writer who puts out the scores. Florida comes out on top by 0.25 points. HookemTexas Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Soccer had a no show and volleyball had a down year by their standards. I still don't know what the heck happened to track and field, but we've beaten that horse to death. Texas will be back on top soon enough. And Texas needs to put together a gymnastics program because that's the last thing those okies can hold onto. And they only really win because there's like 4 programs and all the talent from the state of Texas goes there as Texas doesn't have a program. 1 Quote
nozatx Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Stanford loses 11-2 in 2nd rd of ACC baseball tourney, so that will lock up their 0 pts for baseball as expected. Texas and Stanford both advance to nationals in men's golf. Women's golf start nationals on Friday along with softball supers. Stanford solid #1 rank in women's golf, so cannot gain points from projections there. Stanford was runner-up in softball regionals so finish with an excluded 50 pts. 1 Quote
TexTheHorn24 Posted Wednesday at 09:04 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:04 PM What’s Texas projected output for the Golf Teams? Both moved into the NCAAs but I’m not sure what they’re projected to finish as Quote

That translates to reaching semifinals in match play for 82.5 points. Women are ranked 5th in both, which projects to reaching match play for 72.75 points. Both have a floor of 30th for reaching nationals which would be just 44 points. Top 15 teams after 3 rounds play a 4th to cut to final 8 for match play. 1 Quote
LonghornFan4Ever Posted Saturday at 02:30 PM Posted Saturday at 02:30 PM Would baseball not making it to Omaha and softball not making it to OKC have a significant impact on the overall Directors’ Cup standings? Quote

Softball has a higher floor by having already made it to superregionals. Losing in supers gives you 64 points. Levels in CWS (soft or base) are 73/78/83/90/100 (7/8. 5/6, 3/4, 2, 1). Losing in supers is just 9 points less than going 2-and-out at CWS. Baseball/softball give you 25 pts for making tourney, then 37.5 if out with 1 win at regionals, and 50 points for regional runner-up. Not making supers in baseball would be a big penalty. 1 Quote

Baseball, has earned 25 points only with a predicted finish of 78. So, they still have 53 points they need to earn by winning games. Both teams could fall short of the prediction and Texas still has room to work with. Ideally, if they do drop points it isn't a large amount but we can survive in the Directors' Cup even if they do. 1 Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted Sunday at 02:32 AM Author Posted Sunday at 02:32 AM Women's Golf is in a good position after 2/4 stroke play rounds. They are in 8th. The top 15 advance after the 3rd round and the top 8 advance to match play after the 4th round. They are just a few strokes away from 4th place, but also just a few places away from 13th place. 2 Quote

Totally agree...OU’s ‘dynasty’ exists because Texas hasn’t bothered to enter the sport. And in a state where gymnastics is already huge? UT would snap up the talent overnight and the okies lose their last talking point 1 Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Women's Golf finishes stroke play tied for 3rd and ends up the 4 seed in match play. They face #27 ranked EMU tomorrow in the quaterfinals. They have secured 72.75 points which was their projection. A win in match play tomorrow adds another 10 points! Also, congrats to Farah O'Keefe on the individual championship. No points towards the Directors' Cup for individual championships though. 4 Quote
