Oklahoma State has 11 seasons of 10 wins in 124 years of playing football.  Mike Gundy coached 8 of those 11 seasons.  Historically they are a bottom dweller programs except for the Gundy years.  I would say regardless of anything else he deserved better than to be fired in the middle of the week a quarter through the season.  They may never get back to another 10 win season ever again.

Seemed like the players quit on him. Got to cut the cancer.

Board and boosters have an inflated sense of what they can accomplish here. This won't get them any further this season; it won't help recruiting; it won't speed up the rebuild. Gundy is the program. End of story. They should have waited and cut ties at the end of the season. They could have still looked for a replacement and set things up. If anything, their negotiating position is worse now. It's mind boggling how business people get overly emotional when it comes to sports and end up shooting themselves in the foot.

This isn't a Oklahoma St problem, it's a Mike Gundy problem. How as a program can you have your HC refuse to use the portal and hate NIL. <Insert his Oregon NIL rant here from just a few weeks ago as proof he still hates NIL> He was lucky he wasn't fired earlier this year after the sit down with the powers to be. If anything in 2025 Gundy was holding them back as a program with his refusal.  Adapt or die, he chose to die....it's on him. I

He's 21-21 the past 4 season overall and 11-16 in conference play. Those records were only going to worsen as this season plays out.

IMO if it's about respect then he should have resigned given his disdain for this era of college athletics. I don't feel sorry for a guy who will get 15 million dollars worth of respect for being a failure at his job.

No college coach can be successful in this day and age without a strong NIL program.  Not sure how much of OSU’s problems are tied to OSU’s lack of NIL or Gundy’s disdain for NIL.  Seems like OSU’s $ dried up with no T Boone.

I doubt they’re any more underfunded than over half the B12 but they’re on the bottom.
