Very, very unfortunate for Mateer.

SoonerScoop has reported that the OU QB will have surgery on Wednesday. Oklahoma has a bye this week, but Michael Hawkins has been named the starter for next weekend's game against Kent State on October 4.

Reportedly a 3-week absence at least for Mateer.

NEW: Oklahoma QB John Mateer has suffered a thumb injury on his throwing hand and could miss three or more weeks, per @SoonerScoop.

Whoa. You're not joking...

That would be insanely bad luck is confirmed cheating karma for them. Now we get to hear all the "but if we had Johnny Bets" excuses after we beat them worse than we would have.

Man, that sucks for the kid. Never want to see that. Glad we might not have to play him though. I think we still would win, but it’s always nice if it’s easier! Especially with their false confidence from that last “victory.” Cheaters will always cheat.

Criminal karma coming back to get the slimeballs. Never seen a program so proud to get away with cheating.

Karma for beating auburn by paying off the Zebra saving there ass against the fighting Arnold’s.

It is likely Texas faces off against Oklahoma with a backup QB for the third time in the last four meetings.

So the one time we didn’t was vs Gabriel and we lost. Better to be lucky than good I guess.
