I'd take 10-2 and # 5 seed and no SECCG . Host #12. But for sure would be nice to win the SEC and a bye of course.

If you get into CCG, you better win it because you just added an extra game for no reason.

If we're 10-2, I actually see us passing Ole Miss. At that point Ole Miss best wins would be an LSU team that fired their coach and an OU team we dominated meanwhile we'd have top 10 wins over #6 OU, #9 Vandy, #5 Georgia (who they lost to) and #3 A&M. We could be looking at the perfect scenario of avoiding the SEC championship game AND getting the 1st round bye.

@Gerry Hamilton This tool aligns with the extended tie-breaking rules on the SEC's website: https://bball.notnothing.net/bracket_cloud.php?conf=secfb

If Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Texas all have 1 SEC loss, then it becomes a 3-team tie and the tiebreaker is common conference opponents, of which we'd lose to both due to our loss to Florida, even if we beat A&M.

If A&M were to lose to Mizzou this week though and we end up in a 2-team tiebreaker with Ole Miss, Texas beating Georgia would propel Texas to the SEC title game.

Those two scenarios are the most likely way Texas makes it to the SEC Championship Game.  I have added a third scenario in which Alabama wins all their other games and loses specifically to Oklahoma, Texas wins out, Texas A&M wins out before they lose to Texas, and Mississippi wins out.  Texas would finish at the top of the SEC regular season standings and face Alabama in Atlanta.

However, you have to wonder if winning your conference really means much in the expanded playoff era, especially in the B1G and SEC.  Last season, winning a power level conference guaranteed you a first round bye, but that rule was changed after last season, and it just seems like an extra game of wear of tear with little to gain and a lot to lose.  Maybe they could, similar to college basketball and college baseball, have a regular season SEC Champion trophy and an SEC Championship Game trophy when they expand to 16 teams and beyond.

To your point, I personally prefer the three-way tie, not going to the SECCG at 10-2, with H2H wins over Georgia and A&M.

You get time off from 11/27 to 12/19 for rest and prep and likely host a first-round game on campus.
