  1. BYU is the perfect example of why we dont rank teams off record.
  2. Who takes the crown for the biggest hater? Tim Brando or Booger McFarland? Both are on generational hate runs.
  3. We've moved into position behind BYU in odds...the one in keeping an eye on is Notre Dame. Texas has a great argument to be in over notre dame and that would send the biggest message to not schedule cupcakes
  4. I don't disagree with you saying thats the reason. I think thats probably their rationale as well. I'm just critiquing that rationale as hypocritical given where Alabama is ranked and the supposed "criteria" they set for themselves.
  5. I dont recall that being primary criteria for the committee. There are teams ahead of Texas (Alabama) where that is not the case. Head to head and strength of schedule are the primary criteria by which they are supposed to grade.
  6. Replace Ohio St with Rutgers next year and get that vaunted Big 10 non-conference win.
  7. Texas has a better resume than Alabama minus the Ohio St game. Case in point is Alabama. Don't schedule Ohio st and you clear Alabama's playoff resume.
  8. With a 9 game SEC schedule, we will get plenty of big matchups. Get the big 12 and ACC on the phone or schedule cellar dwellers from the Big 10.
  9. The committee and national pundits are telling you with a straight face its better to beat Florida and lose to OU than the other way around. Absurd.
  10. Not to mention Vanderbilt plays Tennessee and Georgia Tech plays Georgia next week. Both of those are likely losses. It comes down to Alabama or OU losing next week, and Oregon beating USC today. Then theres an argument to be made, but having BYU and Miami drop another game would all but guarantee it. A lot needs to happen but its way more likely than CJ's tweet makes it seem.
  11. Wildcard that could really help is Alabama next week vs Auburn. I think CJ's take is too negative as it doesnt account for next week and we probably jump Utah and maybe Miami with a win over A&M (which would be the 3rd top 10). Really need Oregon to win this week to keep hope alive for a 9-3 Texas.
  12. We are the Penn St of the SEC. Sark is our James Franklin.
  13. 9-3 Texas would need some major help now
  14. We need OU and USC to lose to help this scenario.
  15. If you want a 9-3 Texas to have the best odds, you have to have OU lose this game.
  16. I loved going to the Clemson game last year. I think best for Texas would be to win out, miss the SEC championship game by tie breaker, and host a home game.
  17. Cincinnati has 2 losses already I believe? Don't think a 2 loss big 12 team gets in unless they win the championship.
  18. This is correct. The committee indicated this with quite a few 2 loss teams over current 1 loss teams in the ACC.
  19. I agree that makes it more likely. I just dont see BYU getting much respect at all after today's performance.
  20. Well yes, but this post is assuming Texas goes 9-3.
  21. Bonus points for Pitt beating ND
  22. A lot of positive things happened for Texas today. As I see it, we need Texas to go 2-1 of the remaining 3 games and have the following happen to likely secure Texas a spot as the 5th SEC team. 1. USC loses to Oregon 2. Michigan loses to Ohio St 3. Oklahoma loses to Alabama 4. Vanderbilt loses to Tennessee
  23. Vanderbilt looking very shakey
  24. I have been saying this about Indiana. They're the same team as last year. Cignetti beats up on bad teams, but when the talent is even or in the opponents favor, this happens. If Oregon loses today, Indiana should not be ranked above a lot of 2 loss SEC teams.
