    I'm not buying into the Tech hype yet. They haven't played a decent schedule at all. BYU and Utah are overrated (the Big 12 and ACC suck this year). They also lost to ASU without QB1. It wouldn't surprise me to see a quick Tech playoff exit. The CFP rankings this season are suspect. There's no way ND, Utah, Michigan, and Miami should be as high as they are right now. Oregon and Ole Miss both belong ahead of Tech as well.

    This. More scholarships at D1 means more spots at D2 and D3 for kids that may not have received those opportunities. More college-trained athletes for various sports (and opportunities for some kids to get out of bad life situations). My opinion from the rabbit hole is this is good for football growth internationally. This applies to all collegiate/olympic sports, but football is barely scratching the surface overseas and this increases player supply for various leagues.

    I'm not saying the original report was true, but agents take calls ALL the time. Coaches always listen even if they have no intention of leaving. Sark loves college football. That is no secret. However, for the reasons you mention, it would be no surprise needing a break from the current college football grind. If I'm an NFL owner, I'm hammering home the life balance for his young family. The current college sports landscape is incredibly time-consuming and stressful. Even more so when you're the head coach at a large-brand, blue blood program like Texas. With the injection of NIL, the expectations are higher now. IF Sark left (a big if), I could see him returning to college later on when the landscape has settled down with regulation and his baby is older.

    Quick destination decisions are what a transfer is. It's expedited recruiting in a short window. January and May both have issues. May at least gives schools and coaches in the playoffs the ability to manage rosters properly. Not worried about the athlete having the time to learn scheme compared to the issues coaches and schools are having. They get paid to figure it out.

    I agree. I personally think the portal needs to be May only. The window between finals time and summer camps. That would make the athletes complete the academic year, the athletes would have a better idea of roster positioning, and it gives some relief to the playoff teams you mention.

    It makes a lot of sense. There is some clarity to the portal window now and it's in January. You want this done early because it gives the AD a better chance of 1) making a hire before the portal, and 2) keeping as much of the team together as possible after the 30 day window. Ole Miss can't hurt themselves for a coach who can't decide if he wants to leave.

    Saw something this morning saying Lane could stay at Ole Miss but they've given him the ultimatum. Would be better for us.

    Yeah...it's bad this year. Starts up front with Flood and the OL. We are late season so the OL should be playing better. Should 🤦‍♂️

    Last night, I watched my son and his 10u football team go pull off an upset in the semis down in Houston. Several of them playing sick, including mine. They gave everything against a much bigger and dominant team. The coaches adjusted mid game and won. This is my biggest complaint about Sark. He does not adjust well in games. There's zero consistency. It happens occasionally but rarely in big games and not often enough when losing. He already shot down a coordinator. Until proven otherwise, Sark will win a lot of games and run a clean program, but he won't get a Natty.

    To be fair, it's unlikely Aggie, OU, or Tech wins a natty. We could also still beat Aggie. South Carolina exposed them bad. Georgia is the best team in the SEC and they showed why last night.

    Hard to establish true market value with a small data set and looming lawsuits for denials. It's going to take a few more years to work itself out.

    Just heard @Bobby Burton state his concern about them now sneaking Utah in the playoffs. Couple that with anything associated with Arky not liking Texas. We are skating on thin ice with 3 losses if we drop another game. The Big 12 deserves no more than 1 or 2 teams but it wouldn't surprise me a 3rd now. Makes winning out even more important for us and OU.
