  1. Thanks Blake! I just saw a headline that the UT Softball team is conference champions! Hook 'Em!
  2. The Longhorns softball team has me excited to tune in and watch them on TV every time their games are available. Last time I moved I lost the LHN on the systems available to me. I hope the Texas softball team is about to go on a playoff run and they will be on TV a lot.
  3. Will do. Hook 'Em!
  4. You got that right!!! About all I can remember from the two Terps debacles is thinking "the Texas By-God Longhorns just lost to a team with a 5'8" QB they call 'Piggy'." Geez. Final thought...Jimbo hired Durkin and motorcycle wreck neck collar boy Petrino to coach at College Station.
  5. Thanks! I thought so but I wasn't sure. I read several stories about that tragedy and the aftermath. The young man's family was understandably devastated.
  6. It's a good thing for student athletes committing to SMU that the NIL era has begun. I was unaware of something about SMU before living in Dallas from '86- '97. I was unaware just how wealthy the SMU students are. Many are VERY affluent.
  7. Gerry... something to look forward to when you reach your golden years...I noticed that Chick -Fil- A kids occasionally gave me free Dr Pepper. Turns out, depending on the location's "operator" (CFA term for Franchisee) if you are a customer 65+ you get a free beverage. Funny how some of the kids working at CFA think I'm ancient and I show some of them my ID because they think I'm 50!
  8. I'm really not trying to stir up anything, but was Durkin the HC at Maryland when one of the Terps players sadly and tragically died in S&C training and/football practice?

  10. Back in the day...I remember walking along the Drag across the street from the UT campus and the David Allan Coe tour bus was parked by the (then) Tower Records. The bus was NOT inconspicuous! The letters spelling out the recording artist's name were about three feet tall and David's name extended along the entire side of the bus. When you were passed out on the Interstate highway there was zero doubt about who it was!
  11. Must've been that scenic view of the billiard table topography of the Oklahoma countryside I heard he posted from the top (third) floor of his Norman hotel room that he found to be captivating. Nicer than the Four Seasons and VY's Steakhouse in Austin I guess. Seriously, the only thing I can think of is he's going to get more snaps at Oklahoma since they aren't as deep along the Dline and so will have more of a chance to stand out on film... Oh well, indeed. I hope the Horns OLine has a great game in the RRR. Hook 'Em!
  12. Well I hope the dance the demonic Damonic did with Texas drove up the NIL offer from Oklahoma to the point that he disproportionately drained the Sooner NIL budget. Time will tell about him, but as a longtime CFB observer I have always felt strongly that I don't want a player who doesn't really, really want to be a Longhorn. I'm sure he will enjoy being the Defensive MVP of the Alamo Bowl. See him in October at the State Fair of Texas. Hook 'Em!
  13. Thanks Bobby! I always reminded my kids "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the great!" Looking back on the last few years of Longhorns football, I am absolutely grateful for where the program stands in 2024. Credit goes to everyone involved.
