  1. I first saw Jerry West play when I was in HS and he was at WVa. Then I watched him for years in the NBA. To me he was the second best guard ever. In college, WVa had an All American 6-10 center, but West jumped center. His defense was the best. His shooting was the best. Only Steph has been as deadly from distance. He even led the NBA in assists one year. He still played a foot above the rim in his 30s. If I could have only six guys to play one game they would be Jordan, West, Bird, Duncan, Wilt, and LeBron, who would be able to sub for everyone else with virtually no drop off.
  2. I will be out tonight so I am saying "good luck" now - and goodbye to both watching the game and this thread.
  3. If Jonah were at full speed he would be useful batting leadoff or second.
  4. No one would have predicted OU and UT to have the top two DLs in the SEC in their second year in the conference. Someone might have predicted the newcomers' QB strength from history, but not DLs.
  5. Jeff, do you have a clue as to how Gasparino's once hot bat went ice cold? It was almost a surprise that he made solid contact again. He is too solid in CF to take out of the lineup, but early season his bat was a feature, not a glitch.
  6. He had the single best Texas HS Champ Game I ever saw.
  7. SJ St may be legit, but your point is well taken.
  8. I watched Joel Klatt on YouTube yesterday. He was grading QBs, and said Klubnik was the best returning QB. I have thought highly of Klubnik since his Westlake days and IIRC Gerry and Bobby and CJV think well of Klubnik now. Klatt thought that because he trusted Sarkโ€™s process and Archโ€™s dedication [along with Archโ€™s talent] that Arch would be the second best QB returning. Klatt said that he watched Washington State film for the entire season because he had to prep for being their Bowl game commentator, and he thought Mateer was the third best returning QB. To me, Klatt sounds reasonable and not like a hype machine. What is your take? Do you think Klatt is value added? Many of you here have opinions supported by football experience, which I do not, so I enjoy the community guidance about who are trustworthy football commentators and who are not.
  9. Tennessee lefty is really tough - his curve is too much for Texas' lefthanded batters and hard on the righties, too, although I cannot tell why from the TV. It must look late breaking from behind the plate.
  10. Glad to see Gasparino in CF at the right moment
  11. I asked about him in the other thread. Is he hurt? He is an asset in CF even if he is slumping at the plate.
  12. He is a smart baller, the kind you would always rather have on your team than face, and we hope he is both earning some real cash and having a good time in Europe. Anybody know the payscale in the Belgian league?
  13. So much for the notion that no HS kickers would ever again be offered.
  14. Do you know what happened to Gasparino?
  15. Grubby feels like an idiot but I hope he shakes it off.
  16. AND TEXAS WINS!
  17. Nothing like a 6-6 pitcher whose breaking ball moves a foot and a half.
  18. Bottom fell out of that one. Strike three.
  19. To your continued good health, Gerry Hamilton.
