    Being a star in high school also doesn't always translate into a star in college. It's good to have options.

    Kavan is like the complete opposite of James Harden, good to average regular season, and the deeper in the playoffs it is, the better and more clutch she gets.

    Admittedly I don't know too many names outside of Texas, but for next year with Frahm, Pickens, and Canady gone, who are the elite pitchers outside of Kavan? Terry is a maybe because she got hit hard but multiple teams in the WCWS. Miss state's pitcher?

    They’ve lost coaches the past few seasons to HC gigs right? The only negative to winning is everyone else wants the coaches in your secret sauce. OU just lost their hitting coach.

    Yormark probably wouldn’t do that since they are his only shot at maybe winning. The rest of the schools in the big 12 are pretty much canon fodder at this point.

    That would be justice and hilarious, but wait until they spend all their NIL and do it in the of season.

    She probably commands 6 figures at any of the blue bloods, if Tech comes in with 7 figures like they did with Canady, that would be hard to turn down and I wouldn't blame her. Invested correctly, you're set for a good chunk of life, especially considering softball isn't a sport where there's much money after college.

    What do you think Texas' chances are? Not sure if she had any love or hate for Texas growing up. Of course Tech and Sooners both think she's going to them. I'm biased of course but I don't see how anyone could want to go to either of those schools barring money (which Texas has). Tech is located in bfe and the town is boring af (having worked in oil and gas I've had to travel around there many times. Same with ou, there ain't nothing in that state, and then you have to listen to one song all the time cause their band apparently only knows that one song. And then there's the hideous colors.

    So I was thinking about NIL, wasn't aware of the Sorsby thing today, that for sure is wrong.

    I don't like it, but they aren't doing anything illegal. I akin it to when a Longhorn does something like hit a homerun and throws up the Hook'em. If you don't like it, don't let them do it. And Texas is one of the schools that is able to go toe to toe with Tech when it comes to money. It's whether Texas wants to or not. There are other strategies involved.

    IF Texas lands Torres, likely either she or Martinez moves to 2nd, that's as good a middle defense as you can get with Henry covering CF behind them.

    Torres is on my wishlist, her defense is amazing.

    I had a hunch it would happen, she couldn't crack the top 3 and saw very little playing time. Will be just as hard next year with the stud freshman coming in to go with a potential portal pickup as well and Kavan and Wells returning.

    I feel like Nichols pretty much solidified her spot with her play in the WCWS. If Beachum is only 3rd base that's probably a no go.

    Also let's remember it doesn't have to be a big name with the squad they already have assembled - last year Altmeyer wasn't the big splash transfer name, but she had some key moments in the WCWS.

    I don't know her game, does she have the speed for the outfield? Have to assume she's got an arm playing catcher.

    Fair question and the answer would be no unless she's so good you can't keep her on the bench, however there's going to be sophomore catcher Anne Wallace as well; worst case Kate could catch but they probably want her at 1st base with her athleticism. If Swan's an upgrade over Wallace, they do it. Defensively we're definitely going to miss Atwood's prowess at throwing out runners and pickoffs.

    Of the three, the most diabolical is Tech. If they can get Torres, they are booting Toney to the curb without a thought. Texas on the other hand will not; there's an open slot at 2nd base but if Torres is set on playing SS, then that's narrows it down. Of the three names you mentioned - Azua, Swan, and Torres, I think the least likely of the three for Texas is Swan. While Reese graduates, they have two highly touted youngsters. Azua makes sense because they need a solid LHP and potentially #2 behind Kavan. Torres if she takes 2nd or if Martinez moves to 2nd is a no brainer, but highly doubtful given how much money Tech's going to throw at her.

    Crowded infield, was going to be tough for her to get playing time if that's what she's seeking.
