  1. That's a pretty stacked roster on paper. Even potentially without Bordi, I'm thinking White will try one of the star inf recruits in RF. There's going to be a battle for 2nd base. Unless you're replacing outgoing portals, I'm thinking you're looking for a stud pitcher if there's one but not settle, and potentially an outfielder. Infield is pretty much solid and possibly even crowded.
  2. Pitchers are the most coveted portal players because how much they impact the game. Will be interesting to see who gets who.
  3. The probably successors to the seniors leaving are: Annie Abdullah - 2nd base Steve South - catcher Either Madi Doty or Sophia Bordi #2 or #3 pitcher Alysa Sneed - LF Not sure who would slot into RF right now, Ashton Maloney and her rocket arm will be hard to replace. The other starts are pretty much set unless anything changes: #1 Pitcher - Kavan 1st Base - Katie Stewart SS - Vivi Martinez 3rd - Jaycie Nichols CF - Kayden Henry
  4. Nebraska is Big 10. But point stands considering Texas threw their #2 and #3 pitcher in game two.
  5. Hmm, she left ou softball because of mental health, maybe she's quit softball altogether, never know. Could make sense to look for a pitcher in the portal depending on what we have next year; at least 3 good pitchers would be solid and Texas currently has Kavan and Wells as likely 1 & 2 heading into the season. After that it's up for grabs.
  6. White has said that he's selective in the portal because of the highly touted recruits they get. He says it would not only not be fair to the recruits if you recruit them only to portal players to take the spots they were going to take; might as well not recruit them in the first place. It would also make it hard for you to recruit because why would they come to your school then. Tech's strategy is bold and can only last so long as they have money. Because I can't imagine any top recruit would want to go there since they aren't being developed, they're taking other school's developed players. We should start a thread to look at the roster for next year, would be a fun discussion.
  7. You make an important point, would the Mt. Rushmore be specifically what they did at Texas, or what they did for their entire career? Because that greatly would affect rankings for some.
  8. I think most of the softball news in on Reddit, but I'm old and it's difficult for me to navigate that.
  9. Kavan is getting all the accolades and rightfully so, but I also have to give props to Citlaly Gutierrez. I myself have been critical of her and didn't think she was a legit #2, but against Tennessee and Tech at the WCWS, she was lights out and gave the team a chance to win and that's all you can ask. And she did it with a smile on her face. Because of her outings, Kavan was able to get the needed rest to do what she does best.
  10. I haven't heard anything that's extraordinary, she gets credit for being the highest paid player at the time. Jordy Bahl Frahm likely took less money to go home to Nebraska and build that program (her home state) into a contender. To me that's more worthy. Karlyn Pickens was interviewed and said she was offered a ton more money (likely by Tech) but stayed at Tennessee because it means something to try to finish what you started. Reese Atwood was contacted by Tech last year during the WCWS and said no thanks I'm staying at Texas. Teagan Kavan has interviewers pull in who she believes should be recognized that usually do not get the spotlight (Altemeier). Those types of actions have more impact imo.
  11. Team wise and trophy case, but Cat was beyond dominant as a pitcher with no offense. On top of the gaudy stats, Cat also lost a bunch of 0-1 games because teams she was on couldn’t score at all.
  12. In terms of hardware yes and she’s definitely in the top 3 if she’s not. So many great players have come through. Names include Haley Eckerman, Logan Eggleston, and I’m starting a blank on a player from earlier in Texas’ history that dominated at multiple positions.
  13. Is it usual to not shake hands after the champ game? Saw someone tweet that Tech was sour and just started packing their bags instead of going out and congratulating Texas.
  14. I watched highlights clip today, interestingly, Mowins said Canady was listed as the starter, but then when they had Terry pitch first, that counted as a substitution, normally not an issue for them, but when they brought in the third pitcher, Canady was subbed out of the game and then couldn't come back in.
  15. She's a stud and I think left handed as well.
  16. Isn't Texas set at SS with both Rodriguez and the guy from Tech who is going to play 3rd?
  17. A few months? Wouldn't take me but maybe a day, hell maybe a few hours.
  18. It's not common because in order for a team to be able to do it, both pitchers have to play a regular position so that they don't leave the field. The way it's advantageous is that they are different pitchers, so it's intended to throw off the batters because one's a lefty and one's a righty at different heights. I think that it would disrupt any rhythm a pitcher has but what do I know, I'm sitting at home and not paid millions to do it. Also, the other logic for the strategy is that it doesn't wear their pitcher down because they aren't throwing 100 pitches and every time they switch pitchers, the pitcher gets to warm up toss which in theory would disrupt momentum.
  19. They probably have been able to get their timing on Kavan, getting Cit in to throw a different speed may help.
  20. Already a bunch of rumors about some players set to transfer as soon as season is over - starting with ou’s Pickering.
  21. If only there was something that measured if a school was an everything school and an award was given out for it.
  22. Kavan has 1 more year.
  23. Don’t forget there are some high recruits who were on the bench this year as freshman that will be sophomores ready to contribute as well.
  24. As far as pitchers, there's Wells, the transfer from OU who sat out this year Bordi, the #1 pitching recruit Doty, and assuming they don't transfer out - Salmon and Gonzales. There's the highly touted incoming freshman who is thought to be competing for middle infield.
  25. Blew his wad on softball; would be glorious for Texas to win it again.
