  1. I wasn't a fan of Galindo, but some of these SECN announcers make him look like an all-star. What I meant in my comment was the quality of content, announcers were secondary to me, but they weren't too bad. Seems to me like many of the LHN announcers went out of their way to not be Texas biased (including former Longhorns) where as some of the SECN announcers do not hide that they are biased to their home team.
  2. Makes one truly appreciate what we had with Longhorn Network.
  3. He was much more kind to Texas than SEC shorts was . . . Texas is back . . . lol
  4. At least the volleyball team is living up to their standard. It's amazing what Coach Elliott has done year in and year out, he loses 8 players to graduation/transfer this past offseason, starts 3 freshman, and is undefeated with a #2 ranking. In the last 19 seasons, they've reached the final four 14 times. If they make it again this year, that will be 15/20 seasons for a 75% rate. Just below 50% on the finals/championship game appearance. Just imagine if any of the other major sports programs on campus could do that. (Football, either basketball, baseball/softball)
  5. The difference between Ohio St, andBama and Texas is their trenches are actually doing the job. A lot easier to develop as a QB when you're not running for your life almost every play.
  6. Oh SEC shorts is gonna have a field day
  7. While I haven't watch any games, the fact that the Fever are in the Semi-finals with 1 game to determine if they can get to the finals, with a team basically held together with scotch tape is a testament to her ability to adapt mid-season and make adjustments to her roster.
  8. Astros probably need to blow up half the roster and re-tool, starting with the pitching staff.
  9. This guy just couldn't be a worse combination . . . a sooner and an aggie in one?! My condolences to your brethren.
  10. The biggest worry if the offense doesn't click is what happened to LSU, defense was on the field so much they just tired out.
  11. So much this, Mack would back off the pedal where as Stoops rammed it up Mack’s arse every chance he got. This is football, put in the backups if we’re up big but don’t hamstring them to just 3 runs and a punt. Let them play.
  12. Texas should add gymnastics. With the amount of talent in the state they would compete quickly. Especially because all the talent has to go to either lsu or ou due to no programs in state.
  13. I thought football was a required sport? Men's and women's bball, baseball, softball, football and volleyball is how I thought it was.
  14. Venables had the horses when he was at Clemson with tons of NFL talent to cover just long enough for the DL to get home. But in the NIL world of today and ou acting like they are only middle class, he can't field a roster full of enough guys to do what he's traditionally done on defense. We won't even talk about the hits they've taken in offensive recruiting.
  15. They took the foot off the gas in set 3, became complacent, and starting making errors/mistakes that they normally wouldn't make. Definite teaching moment because momentum can swing quickly and against a better opponent could lead to a loss. See last year vs Missouri or ATM.
  16. There's a lot of places where it will be interesting to see how long the leash is. The other thing is where programs see themselves - does okie st really believe they can compete annually for championships or be content as a contender that annually competes to win the big 12? Without Boone Pickens deep pockets, it will be hard in the NIL era. Texas Tech thinks they can buy their way into relevance and being competitive, we will see how that unfolds. It worked for them in softball last year but football is another story, 1 person can't literally carry the team through the playoffs while the rest of the team no shows.
  17. Last time Texas hired a coach with a FF on his resume, the team never got out of the first round. What they've done in the past isn't as impactful as what they are able to do moving forward because the landscape of the sports world in college athletics is vastly different now with the transfer portal and NIL.
  18. I agree, in his same shoes I'd take the money as well, especially given a built in excuse of "hey I don't have the same resources to compete". Just like Jimbo at ATM with his guaranteed contract. Just fire me so I can take my money but I sure as hell ain't walking away from it. Separately but kind of similar, I find it funny when people complain about a high dollar free agent/recruit that doesn't pan out. It's not their fault your team (pro or college) offered the money, it's your team's fault for not properly assessing the value.
  19. I'm thinking this as well, seems he was really bitter the last few years. If he had to take less money so that they could have more NIL which he disliked, it didn't help matters. He probably checked out and the players saw it as well.
  20. Things are looking good for the volleyball team, they are playing very well but with three freshman in the starting lineup and a scattering of new faces, still have some kinks to work out. This bodes well for them making a deep run as you stated. They've already shown Texas fight with two 5-set wins against top 5 opponents where they were down bad. Texas got an absolute stud getting Ramsey Gary from Indiana. With her, they basically have two liberos in the backcourt along with Emma Halter. Easily making last year's weakness a strong point. Emma Halter is the only senior of the main cast, which means however far they make it this year, they are poised for another run next year so long as everyone remains healthy and no one leaves after the season. Very exciting to watch them this year and they have that Texas Swagger.
  21. This stat is crazy and basically explains the record this year.
  22. It's fairly balanced considering "usual" annual performance expectations of powerhouses vs cakewalks.
  23. The odd thing is that coach Kelly seems to have always recruited a strong goalie whether through direct recruiting or the transfer portal, this is the first year in probably a decade that the goalie has been such a major weakness.
  24. I didn't see him on any of the shots of the bench, I believe last year he was usually on the bench close to Arch.
  25. Thanks, I'm really clueless when it comes to some of the "lesser" sports. Like how tennis and golf scholarships work, I assume the top 4-5 ish are on scholarship and the others are walk ons. Typically on the roster there seems to be a lot more than what we see play in the matches.
