  1. Most of the teams located at tournament sites seem to have a massive advantage, only Nebraska fails in baseball for Omaha. Off the top of my head: OU for softball ncaa championship Nebraska for volleyball ncaa championship (though it now rotates with about 3 other locations) Kansas for big 12 bball championships Their fans downplay it, especially sooners (because they are brain dead), but the ability for your fans logistically to show up is a massive advantage for momentum and support. It's always easier to play in front of a home crowd than it is a hostile crowd. For every rule, there's an exception and that is college station, apparently that's not really a home crowd advantage even though their fans are crazy loud and rowdy lol.
  2. They had the perfect storm this past season with: easy schedule, upper class oline, lots of returning players from the previous year, good portal class … and yet nothing to show for it other than a good record padded by easy wins. They are going to find out this year how hard it is to replace experience and continuity.
  3. National championships in the marquee sports are really tough, the baseball/softball combo has never been done before. UConn did it in basketball a few years back, and only Nebraska and USC has pulled off the football/volleyball combo, and that's only happened a total of 2 times. That Texas is potentially in the hunt for 5 of the 6 is a major testament to the school, CDC, the coaches and the programs. I say 5/6 because realistically I don't think anyone's thinking men's bball is a legitimate contender for the title this year.
  4. What is up with track and field? When Coach Flo first arrived, both teams were consistently ranked in the top 5 and competing for championships, seems like it's fallen off by a lot the last few years. There was a time when Texas had some of the best sprinters and runners in the nation and representing multiple countries in the Olympics.
  5. It's likely more a product of not a marquee matchup. While we would enjoy watching an assumed beat down of a lesser team, they probably want to show a game where both teams are big ranked names.
  6. Moseley knew with all the attention on Coleman and Wingo, he can eat and that will tremendously help his draft stock. Probably a big reason he came back.
  7. It's almost like the team doesn't emphasize practicing the three point shot. They always look hesitant unless the clock is low instead of being aggressive. It's such a massive momentum and crowd energiser for the women's game because you're not going to get any posterizing dunks.
  8. My wife wanted to test it out a few years ago, I figured alright after the trial we'll cancel, nope still have it. It's so worth it not to have the ads. And on the family plan you can add whoever you want up to 6 people, so we just split the cost with some friends making it the cost of a coffee cup each month. You also get youtube music, which allowed me to cancel spotify and apple music subs.
  9. I don't know if it was the gameplan, around the 2:44 mark, coach mentions that one of the coaches spent 2 weeks putting together a scouting report which they practiced and in the game the team, or player, didn't follow it at all, said 2 weeks worth of work out the window or something to that effect.
  10. This reminds me of a certain Texas baseball coach, just spitting facts and owning it, but you can tell he cares about the kids and representing the university and he's passionate. Great coach.
  11. Why aren’t Carlton and Crump playing? Texas sloppy and getting owned for it.
  12. Ah my mistake, how could I forget Jody's undefeated team.
  13. Of the 6 big three sports, the other 4 already have natties, only the two basketball programs are missing.
  14. Also assuming no transfers out, which I don't really see, but never know. Who's Crump replacing in the lineup though? It's stacked.
  15. To save you the trouble of reading and mental impact, here is what pretty much every post on Texags is: “Anything atm or their coaches do is game breaking and they are geniuses; smart moves. Their players are the best thing short of walking on water. Anything Texas does, is terrible, lacks strategy, dumb moves. Texas’ players wouldn’t have a spot on the so loaded aggy squad.”
  16. How do Stanford's baseball and basketball teams look? With the number of small sports they have, if any of their major require teams make points, it's a massive advantage for them. Texas' director cup wins have partially been because Stanford's big required sports teams for the most part have been atrocious.
  17. I feel the same pains, granted I'm older than the target audience though I'm not retired yet. I stopped watching NFL when they were more worried about not playing football, I stopped the NBA when officiating decided the "stars" could literally break rules and not be penalized (double dribble, travel, palming, etc.) in addition to flopping worse than soccer players. MLB for some reason isn't as entertaining to me anymore. When I was a kid, I could name every single player on any of the major Houston teams (Oilers, Rockets, Astros). I listened on the radio when the TV was blacked out (Bill Worrell & Milo Hamilton). I still love Longhorn sports, but like many have said, the transfer and NIL have made it hard to have favorite players because they might be gone the next year. In the NIL fanbox, I got the autographed Wisner poster and Deandre Moore poster; I had ordered frames which and framed them, but those aren't going up on the wall now because it's a Longhorn wall. Change is inevitable, just what will make it on the wall will be more scarce now since there will be fewer players that stay at the school. For that reason, I believe if Arch is able to lead the team to a natty this year (even with all the transfers in), he'll be as beloved as Vince if not more by the burnt orange faithful. Thanks for reading my rambling on a Monday morning.
  18. Vic says he believes Harmon is the best pg in the country, she was outplayed by SC’s guard, let’s see if she can outplay Chavez.
  19. I’m in agreement with your thought. She gets to be the face of the program there, at Texas, she would split being the face, though everyone is still able to get their fair share of the spotlight provided they perform. Jordan Lee is getting recognition as is Crump.
  20. I don’t know how realistic it is, but Burrow wants out of Cincy, Stroud can go back to Ohio! Separately, my friend is drunk on koolaid and thinks the Texans will keep stroud and be able to tank for Arch.
  21. That was brilliant marketing.
  22. Foot injury that bad? That would be a big blow to the depth, she's a star in the making.
  23. Also conveniently forgetting that Cam getting "shut down" was mainly due to his QB not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, kind of like the QBs they currently have on their roster returning for next year. Maybe Cam wanted to go somewhere he didn't have to go through that again.
  24. I do hope ou offered him a lot more than Texas did, they don’t have pockets as deep as tech much less Texas. Money spent on livingstone is less money elsewhere.
