  1. I live in Houston, Rice alumni are extremely well off on average, if they wanted to be competitive in NIL and field a strong football team, they could. It's just not a priority for them.
  2. Likely not Elko if Bobby’s theory in opposite style replacements. Elko is defensive mind.
  3. BYU would be a massive step back considering he's at a blue blood with other blue bloods courting him (Bama).
  4. Penn St. fired Franklin early hoping to get a jump on a coaching search only to be left out in the dust with no great options. They aren't who they think they are.
  5. And that was Georgia's only loss I believe, so they got screwed that year. Bama was in because they won the championship game, and Texas beat Bama that year head to head, so they couldn't leave Texas out without leaving Bama out, but then you can't leave out the SEC champ. FL got screwed because their QB got hurt.
  6. Methinks those hoping for Cam Coleman to enter the portal might not like the result of it. Gerry stated before, Texas wouldn't be the only team chasing him - I would say that given he was committed to the aggies prior to flipping to Auburn that he'd give them a hard look considering what he's seen from their wideouts this year. Those farmers won some major portal additions last year, they'll be a thorn again this portal season.
  7. Bama is not going to be left out, they lead the SEC going into the conference championship game. imo it’s the Notre dame live fest that trumps Texas because among the names at the bottom half, only Notre dame has the same type of national pull as Texas. if Texas doesn’t make the cfp, maybe that’ll light a fire under Sark to run up the score next year on everyone. He sounds pissed enough last few days. also Sark needs to politic for the team to go to the cfp to keep the team’s trust in him. If he says they don’t deserve to go, then likely there’d be some fallout with the players. It’s like an old boss of mine always said to us - “I’ll always have your back if you keep me in the loop. Even if you screw up.”
  8. Like you said, Saban made the Bama fanbase spoiled with impossible expectations. If you're not winning multiple championships, they'll call for blood. Those fans won't even be happy just to competitive for the post season.
  9. Which is odd considering he left ou to run away from the SEC.
  10. What's he done that would make him desirable? Tennessee's been so up and down, and this year, down compared to expectations. And they just got spanked by Vandy in their rival game.
  11. If Texas is on, they should be able to make it to the final four. Hopefully freshman don't make too many mistakes.
  12. There will be openings in the big 12 and ACC, Riley would absolutely kill it in those conferences because there's only 1-2 major games a year. a la when he was at ou in the big 12.
  13. Yep, Texas is being punished for the Florida loss because while they beat some teams above, no one has as bad a loss on their resume.
  14. This stuff is what makes college football fun. Reminds me of when in high school, when our school played against the rival last week of the season, there were so many pranks, the various clubs from each school would play each other in non-official football (band vs band, choir vs choir, German club, etc. I was a "band nerd" and my senior year both band directors bitched out their respective bands because of all the injuries from people hitting each other so hard that bones were broken. In our side, our 1st few chairs (aka the best people for their instruments) were all injured and could no longer participate in UIL marching competition because there were broken arms, broken legs, etc. Good times.
  15. Jordan Lee is getting there, she's looking like the 3rd star player right now after Booker and Harmon, not afraid to take it to the hole or take the shot, and plays great defense. Coach Vic's building a monster with the the next class coming in as well.
  16. Thanks, but Thanksgiving responsibilities trumped watching tonight.
  17. Couldn’t watch the game being on trutv, did they say why Crump and Preston are out?
  18. Such stupid scheduling not actually trying to put the few rivals left against each other on rivalry week.
  19. No, just wishful thinking on our parts.
  20. I would welcome Petrino as an OC, he's that next tier right under the Mike Leach's of the world when it comes to an offensive mind imo.
  21. Lane's always able to field a stud offense, all he has to do is hit on a half decent defense and his team's dangerous. And LSU usually is able to get good defensive prospects, certainly easier than at Ole Miss I would guess.
  22. Well football may not make the playoffs, so that's points from last year down.
  23. Expect CDC to make changes in track and field if they continue to not compete for championships. It’s been a few years since Texas was owning the track and sending olympians to teams around the world.
  24. Kentucky was one of the two losses that Texas had in the regular season. That was during a time that Texas blocked very poorly and promptly was swept by Kentucky. The wildcats have a dynamic 1-2 punch at OH, however they lack the balance of having a potent attacker on the opposite side (reminiscent of earlier Texas teams). They are elite for sure though and are one of the top 4 teams in the nation. Most likely, it will either be Texas 2 overall and Kentucky 3 overall, or vice versa for the main tournament seeding. Kentucky took Nebraska to 5 sets and actually had a 2-0 set lead when Nebraska pulled off the reverse sweep early in the season. All in all, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Texas with Skinner graduating but they're also one of the top 4 teams with 3-4 key contributors being freshman. Throw in that the incoming recruiting class for next year is the #1 class in the country with the top recruit at their respective positions (OH, setter, and libero) and the future looks very bright.
