  1. Texas didn’t take care of business against Florida and they did. If Texas has won that game, they’d probably be in the top 10 right now. Texas still has the recipe to be a top 4 seed, win out. Simple as that.
  2. I was so annoyed the Simmons was basically being held every play that wasn’t getting called. Did they say why Simmons was not on the field the last couple of series?
  3. My take is that Caldwell is akin to Ewers but can and will take off if necessary or opportunity allows.
  4. Anyone know Ange Kelly's contract situation? CDC usually doesn't make a change on the non revenue sports until the contract runs out (like softball). Coach Kelly has done a fair job, but Texas has never been considered a championship contender and that's what CDC wants for every program.
  5. PK does a great job with adjustments, not sure we can say the same about the offensive side. Apparently the other team's defense also does a great job of adjusting against Texas if my memory serves me correctly.
  6. My gut reaction is, I don't want Kiffin at OU. But my logic tells me he wouldn't want that job since they can't play in NIL and recruiting is going to suck for them compared to being either at Florida or LSU. And then off the field, who the hell wants to live in Norman, OK.
  7. The available coaches this year aren't great, gonna have to steal one and even then, most aren't going to be looking to leave, they have built strong programs where they are.
  8. So outside of soccer and football tbd, Texas' sports are all poised to have a strong showing.
  9. So you're saying damage control.
  10. I tend to agree. Kiffin to me is like a better Lincoln Riley, great offenses, but not sure they'll field the defense needed, granted Kiffin tried to build a defense through the portal.
  11. 2005 was probably one of the greatest years in the history of Longhorn sports. According to Perplexity AI: The 2005–2006 athletic year is widely regarded as one of Texas’s greatest multi-sport seasons, driven by historic championships in major sports like football and baseball. However, when compared to modern all-sports dominance — such as 2024–2025, when Texas won the Directors’ Cup and excelled across nearly every sport — 2005 was iconic for its high-profile titles, but 2024–2025 surpassed it in overall athletic depth and consistency.
  12. Since the arrival of CDC anyway. Is that almost every sport is competitive and realistically has a chance to make a run at a championship. Reading Blake's update on baseball, seeing the potential for the basketball teams, softball is in the top 5, volleyball is #2 and expected to make a run, swimming, etc. It allows for constant entertainment of being able to watch Texas and be invested. It's different than the days (and schools like for example Kansas) where a fan could only bank on one or two programs to be excited about and then the rest of the year is ho hum.
  13. Kiffin's at least been successful since then at FAU and Ole Miss, Herman's trajectory has gone the other way and to now his only sniff at success as HC of a program was at Houston.
  14. I also thought I read last year that the incoming class was a top 5 class. While the expectation wouldn't be championship, I agree it shouldn't have fallen off the cliff.
  15. So how long until ATM give Elko a 10 year fully guaranteed contract because they are currently ranked in the top 5 with a bunch of jobs open? I said in another thread that there are few jobs better than the Notre Dame job, can't say the same for the ATM job. Bias aside, there's a number of blue blood jobs that would be a step up, although Penn St. and Florida would be a bit of a lateral jump imo. A USC or Michigan on the other hand . . .
  16. Yep, smart on their part making sure he doesn't think about Penn St. or Florida, or any of the other jobs open or about to open up.
  17. Kiffin seems to have hit a ceiling at Ole Miss in terms of the talent he can pull. Would be interesting if he makes the jump because while he may have more resources, he would take a few steps back in terms of building the program with his players. Though in today's portal world that would take all of 1 year.
  18. I'm in agreement, I may be in the minority, but I think the list of jobs that are better than Notre Dame is very short. Penn St. and Florida are not on that list.
  19. It really doesn't matter if it's Brent or anyone else at this point. So long as ou doesn't want to keep up in NIL with the haves, they won't be able to compete.
  20. I'm also enjoying the Auburn fans telling Oklahoma fans who complain that there were blocks in the back on Niblett's punt return touchdown to stop crying and it sucks when it happens to you huh.
  21. And yet you'll still get people that complain about Gregory where Texas plays. Compared to many other schools, Gregory is a huge upgrade. It needs some improvement, but hard to compete with the atmosphere.
  22. I agree that it's difficult to win a NC, however not so sure about extremely difficult. Someone will win it every year. The formula to win it though, has changed. No longer is it the stack your team, get a really soft schedule, win the couple of "difficult" games on your schedule so that you're highly ranked and put into the championship game. Now, it's how can you get to the CFP and stay relatively healthy enough that you can essentially outlast all the other teams. You have to be a good team, but just as important, you have to have enough solid depth that there's not a drop off if someone goes down. We saw how much of a different Wisner and Malik Muhammad was for Texas. I think this is another big reason why Sark went out and got Caldwell. Gotta have insurance for every position.
  23. Anytime Texas beats ou, I smile. Cause no matter what time it is, ou sucks.
  24. This brings up an interesting discussion - last year many people (myself included) complained that Quinn would throw the checkdown too early in a play. Did Quinn read no opening down field that quickly and throw the checkdown to take the for sure easy completion, is Arch waiting on the downfield too long and thus the checkdown is no longer open/easy? It's probably a mixture of both. Whatever it is, Sark, Arch and company need to figure it out because after last week, there's no more grace period. It's pretty much win or go home from here on out unless some of the other teams lose some unexpected games.
