  1. The positive I guess it that the gave was winnable, like you said, Texas beat themselves with penalties, bad misses (Arch), and poor play calling. It wasn't a blow out, it was a close game to the now probably #1 team early in the season. Also, the team knows what they need to work on in order to beat a good team, the next 3 games won't really tell us much because theoretically, the starters should not be playing in the 2nd half and resting.
  2. I was hoping for a Texas team like the 05' team where stories from the guys of how Vince would dare the defense to stop them by telling them exactly what they were doing and saying see if you can stop it. There's still a ways to go to get to that level of confidence and play.
  3. No sacks on a freshman QB by the defense was disappointing, especially because this rush is supposed to be elite.
  4. On the glass half full side, pressure should be off, no more target on their back, and they can play as the hungry ones as most likely Georgia will be the favorite to win the SEC next week
  5. I’m wondering if the lack of pre-snap motion is due to offensive line being new and Sark & co didn’t want to have potentially more pre-snap penalties than we already had. Otherwise, doesn’t make sense, this is Arch’s third year in this playbook, he should know it. Only other thing I can think of is Sark is thinking long term and didn’t want to reveal anything game 1 since it doesn’t really impact Texas’ playoff chances win or lose. Obviously would rather win, but peaking at the end of the year is preferred over shooting your shot early.
  6. Arch played poorly, but still had them in the red zone multiple times, if Texas converts those they win. The play calling in the red zone is the biggest worry.
  7. Ohio St. has a few guys that can score at any given time, Jeremiah Smith raise your hand. The good news is that Texas has those types of guys as well.
  8. I'm very surprised tight end is that low, also interesting that the Big 10 and SEC have the lower % for QBs yet have a higher number of top QBs vs the ACC and Big 12.
  9. Agree with this, less time to think and overthink, let your training and natural abilities take over. I was never an elite athlete, but I did complete some Ironman triathlons, my friends always told me on race day to ease my nervousness - just trust your training. That's all the Longhorns needs to do, trust their training - they have some of the best coaches in the sport.
  10. It's strictly a business decision for them, they do the cost analysis of how many they think will still subscribe and how many they think they'll lose and make their decision on what they think makes them the most money. Basically looking for the sweet spot on price where they maximize revenue.
  11. I'm expecting the Fox games to be available via the antenna, so I just purchased a $20 one off Amazon. For the rest of the games, assuming an ESPN network, I caved in and got the Disney bundle special for $29.99/mo. for all ESPN unlimited. I figured it was the cheapest route as I don't watch much anything else on any of the streaming networks to make the full cost worthwhile.
  12. I’m thinking this may be a precursor to the SEC changing the champion game to a play in game for 3/4 or 5/6.
  13. Last year Texas was down to pretty much 2 RBs and a QB that didn't have the skillset to run. This year, Texas has it's full stable of backs along with a QB that will take off and is pretty fast at that. Go ahead and play a 3 front and get gashed. If the O-line can't create holes against a 3 man front, Texas is in worse shape than what we've been sold.
  14. You can throw in aggie softball from this past athletic season too, after all, they run ruled Texas in the SEC conference tournament. Did they print cups?
  15. Have to create the perception that it's a "punishment". If they go celebrating like "haha we got away with it" then . . . well doesn't really affect anything really.
  16. I would seriously consider buying an Osterflex jersey if it was a real thing.
  17. Which would mean pretty much everyone involved would be gone, they get their natty with basically little to no consequences. The school is paying the financial penalties, not them.
  18. And they'll be games against inferior opponents where the team could basically coach themselves without needing any coaches on the sideline and still would win handily 99% of the time.
  19. Agreed, basically says cheat your way to a championship, we won't take it away. The revenue the school makes on the championship run will more than make up for any penalty. Essentially there's not much of an ROI hit.
  20. It is, that's what drew me to the idea, Old Metallica is better than their new stuff also.
  21. I'm a bit old school as this will show my age, but something like this with the team strolling in a la Remember the Titans (but not dancing like that) would be badass imo. Just gives a vibe of confidence. https://youtu.be/lYn0QdBmtfM?si=r1cQdMPKC87GBYT5
  22. Not just Caleb Williams, Texas has problems with new QBs, Stockton at Georgia brought them back when they couldn't move the ball at all.
  23. I think based on what's been said, he stays at least 2 years regardless. If he wins both Heisman and natty? He could stay and try to repeat both, a feat I don't think has ever been done?
  24. This is not apples to apples - when the men's game started, there weren't lucrative TV contracts, social media, widely available viewing in your pocket, etc. Throw in that it wasn't a global game at the time and the concept of athletics as a career was not a thing like it is today. I don't think they are losing money in that it's a negative for them, I think the league isn't making money and they are in the red, but it's probably a write-off or something worked in, they are just using the words not making money (which can be true) but the owners themselves aren't losing millions.
  25. I want to see a beatdown like Bama vs Fl St. to start the season a few years ago with Texas playing the role of Bama.
